Make it from Titan onwards, at the latest. Add a quest in the Company of Heroes chain where they mention that they could only entrust their secrets to a truly exceptional adventurer, prompting the player to get and equip their job stone before continuing.

I agree with the sentiment, but make it Brayflox instead.

That being said, I'd rather SE just completely scrap job stones and upgrade the class to a job when you do the quest at 30 since there is no purpose for them anymore since cross class abilities were removed forever ago.
