No surprise: Retainer Fantasia prices rising, stock up now.

Retainer Fantasia is a powerful way to try out/tune a character model : you get to see the model in actual lighting conditions (indoors and out) and can outfit the model in the gear you want dyed the way you want (subject to class and level restrictions).
This is more convenient and more powerful than creating a new character.

So naturally, with the new DT graphics engine on its way, demand is up. Given that AFAIK Retainer Fantasia is only available from Venture Coffers, supply is constrained. So prices are rising.

I'm stocking up now before they practically vanish from the market.

It still baffles me how Retainer Fantasias, Jet Black and Pure White dyes are some of the only things left they haven't completely devalued. I'd chalk up the latter two to being on the Mogstation but are several other colors that were made far easier to obtain in-game. They really need to add new options for all three. And while they're at it, leveling retainers as a whole needs some sort of boost. Going from 1-100 will take literal months... or $9.

It surprised me that I couldn't find Retainer Fantasia on the MogStation.
Maybe I didn't look in the right place, but otherwise, Venture Coffers and RNG are the only way to get them.

You're missing the point: Retainer Fantasia allows you to use a retainer to model and refine a new character model for your character. You can do multiple refinements of the look using multiple Retainer Fantasias, trying them out under real lighting and with different outfits, before using a real-money Fantasia to apply it to your character.
Given the new graphics update and what we've seen of its effect on characters, this may be something you want to do.
Not everyone wants to spend $9 a pop refining the look of their character after DT launch.

It's still cheap enough that you can buy 10 for 100K, alternatively you can use the Benchmark (when the updated one drops) to get a general impression and then use maybe a couple in-game to test the look on a retainer.

I can't imagine anyone needing 10 tries to just refine a look.

I know someone who used 3 Fantasias just to adjust their character's breast size to get the "right" look in a Draped Damascan Top.
IIRC, the best size for them was 73.

I don't know what's more eyebrow raising:
A dude using 3 fantasias just for the sake of altering their retainers boobs or that you remember what number they decided on.
