Are massive groups farming FATES allowed? Jw if this is allowed or not. I haven't been able to do multiple because a group of at least 30+ people, at least that's what it looks like, are tagging everything. A lot of us cant participate in them now.

Fates are supposed to scale the more people do them, so technically speaking yes, it's allowed. Why wouldn't it be? It's an open world event.
Overworld content is overworld content. There's no such thing as an early pull or an early kill. If you don't want to join one of the groups, wait until things calm down.
Error 3102 Club, Order of the 52nd Hour
What I did last time was wait a week or 2, because it was absolutely no fun the 1st few days.
Instead of doing fates one by one everyone just did everything at once and blue maging legends were one shotting fates like pricks.
I did it later and it was much more enjoyable.
I was just curious. It just crossed my mind when I kept encountering them. SE seems to be pretty strict with a lot of things that other games allow.

I see, but it doesn't make sense, since it's not like older MMORPGs where kill stealing was a common thing. Even if you whack one mob and get a bronze rating, it still counts towards the Yokai event. Guild Wars 2 has also those open world events (basically fates), the difference is that your level is scaled down to the map rather than the event. In fairness, I think SE should implement auto-sync for higher level players the moment they enter the fate.
Is this a serious comment? Actually asking, not trolling since I havent heard this before. What exactly do they do that is strict?
I personally think they turn a blind eye to a lot that goes on in this game outside of the development side of things.
This was a problem in ARR, so FATEs were altered so that boss HP and enemy numbers increase based on the amount of people that fought it (or a linked FATE) the last time. It is also why they unlinked certain FATEs such as the Hildibrand one.
SE knew this would happen, because farming FATEs is literally what they asked us to do for the Yokai event. It was like that when there were previous versions of the event, or new relic steps involving FATEs.
FFXIV is an MMORPG. If people weren't allowed to do at least some content as large groups it feels like it would be kind of defeating the purpose of making such a game.
