Can only speak for myself here but I had no trouble making a group or asking to join one and grinding out fates when I did the event. No, but obstruction of game play sure as hell is.
Do you need me to draw it in crayon? Because I can get you it drawn in crayon.
I can't get groups. Nobody joins them. Nobody makes them. The FATEs evaporate. So naturally, you speak up. They ignore you. The FATEs evaporate faster. You can not play. There's a word for it, but it's on the tip of my tongue. I know it starts with the letter O, and it has a destruction sound to it. Oh yeah, obstruction! But what was I doing? Oh yeah! Gameplay! A gameplay obstruction! And even better I asked nicely and they went faster. Crap there's another word for that it starts with g and ends in an rief sound. Oh yeah, griefing! But griefing requires malicious imtent? Well, they did start going faster when I asked them to slow down. That's not quite malicious, but it is with intent. I better phone a lawer on this one. The old thesaurus is failing me, apparently.
7,000 people on earth and I will protect them all.
I can make a group nobody joins them. When the griefing was blowing up on reddit, people were saying join a group join a group as if that was so simple. I came home from work, and there weren't a lot of them and none of them in the zone I needed. So naturally I made my own party. Nobody joined it. The zone was stuffed with people. So I toughed it out for a bit before I started asking if there was a group available to which I was ignored. As the FATEs melted around me. And nobody cared. People complain in shout chat and in say. Nobody cared. I'm not just making all this up. Hell, I just had it happen again a few hours ago. And all I can do is log out and wait, I guess. My gameplay and evenings are obstructed by selfish greifers. And the world turns.
But I can't insult out precious Blue Mage or SquareEnix's utter incompetence when they desgined a job with its ability to grief with impunity.
And yes, I could play Blue Mage, but I'd rather not be part of the problem. I will get it done eventually, but I refuse not to call it what it is.

Eh, I've found it easier to just wait until multiple FATEs spawn and then go in the *opposite* direction of the Blue Wave, or even just go to the other listed zones per minion, because at this point I just don't want to deal with them *at all* anymore and even started adding the worst offenders to my blacklist knowing full well how it's going to work come Dawntrail. They already treat me like I'm invisible, so let's make it official.
I like your style. It's time to fill up my invisible list!Eh, I've found it easier to just wait until multiple FATEs spawn and then go in the *opposite* direction of the Blue Wave, or even just go to the other listed zones per minion, because at this point I just don't want to deal with them *at all* anymore and even started adding the worst offenders to my blacklist knowing full well how it's going to work come Dawntrail. I don't really care what you think about my opinion on a subjective topic, such as griefing. If I feel like these jerks are doing it on purpose, that's how I'm gonna feel about it. And now that I remembered I can send their punk butts to the shadow realm it's game on homes.
People still cry in HW chat zones when blu groups nuke every bosses in 1 flute opener. You're putting words into my mouth. I never said that people playing BLU are the bane of this world. I'm not pointing fingers at BLU players. Some are definitely here griefing (boo), some are not (props to you).
The only thing I wrote is that this problem has been introduced by SE and it makes the content inacessible for new players, at least until the whole thing quiets down after weeks/months, maybe. For instance fates and every boss in expansion areas are immune to most of BLU's cheese, yet in ARR it works. It was probably not a problem when Yokai was first introduced, but now it sure is a problem.
Making things not Missile-able/Ultravibratable changes nothing, it just makes blus go into full max raid dps burst, if a group of people want to go fast they will find a way to go fast, everyone else needs to keep up or cry I suppose.
As for the "Won't Somebody Please Think of the Children?" all the sprouts we had in our parties thought it was cool the zones were extremely active and hectic and alive. They were also getting into every tag no problem.
I honestly can't wait to witness apocalyptical whining when the expansion comes out and hunts become the center of attention, "Please wait I'm congested! griefers!!!! obstructing my gameplay!!!!!"
You're conflating two different things. If it takes, let's say, 100 players to melt a hunt mob. That's fine because the damn might of the zone focused itself on one mob.People still cry in HW chat zones when blu groups nuke every bosses in 1 flute opener.

A single blue mage can end a FATE inside of 10 seconds.
That's the obstruction of gameplay. I couldn't care less about a combined effort nuking a mob. I'd be pissed if you couldn't, but one player shouldn't have that much power. Especially when an event is going on that they are specifically griefing. International or not. Which how can it not be International?
You'd have to be a mental gymnastic gold medalist to believe otherwise. They do it because of the power the job affords them. It literally is the Robert Caro quote I used the other day about power not corrupting, but revealing. These people were always selfish children. Playing Blue Mage in this way simply made their inside feelings manifest outside. They're human garbage, and now since I remembered, I can remove them from my game soon its time to take out the trash!
