A Relic Reborn (Thyrus) Questline Broken?

So I've been doing the "A Relic Reborn (Thyrus)" questline, and I got to the part where I needed to do the "A Relic Reborn: the Hydra" trial using the weapon. I queued for Duty Finder, only to be left sitting for over 10 minutes, with nobody else joining, so I was going to join my friend in "the Chimera," but then someone offered to do "the Hydra" with me in an undersized party, and I switched back to my White Mage, only I forgot to re-equip the weapon. We completed the trial, and the quest for it just disappeared entirely. I went back to Gerolt, thinking maybe I just needed to do that, and he had a quest, only it was to start the entire A Relic Reborn (Thyrus) quest all over again. WTH?! Is this questline broken? Is there a way to fix this without redoing the entire questline again? Simply put, I will not repeat this dumb questline, even though it does give me some of my essential WHM spells.

The relic quest is entirely optional. All it does is gets you a fancy weapon and nothing more. If you want it for glamour, then keep going. If you don't care about that, then feel free to stop.

No part of the relic questline gives any jobs any skills. It's only for a relic weapon (which is just glamour at this point).

I was under the impression that this quest is what leads to unlocking the ability to use Asylum and Afflatus Solace. Am I wrong about that? I have never unlocked these skills, even though I'm level 63 on my WHM. If it's not this quest that would unlock those, then what am I missing? I had read another thread that mentioned a level 50 quest that you must do to be able to use these two spells, and this is my only level 50 quest that has anything to do with conjuring at this point.

Yes, you're wrong. Those actions come from the Heavensward job quests.

You should be doing your White Mage job quests.

Regardless of the question of why you were doing the quest, there is the matter of it going missing.

Do you still have the staff, and did you accidentally put it somewhere outside your main inventory? If it's in the saddlebag or retainer storage it might not be detected.

If you can't find it, type /isearch thyrus into the game text then right-click the found item and search for it to find its location.

If you somehow threw it away, I think the moogle at Gerolt's forge might be able to give it back to you.

I still have the staff; it was still in my inventory when I completed the trial in question; it's just that, once I completed that trial, the quest just vanished from my journal. I even had the staff in my inventory when I went back to speak to Gerolt, and he just started the questline all over again.

In your inventory, or equipped? I seem to recall that the ARR quest interactions often want you to have the weapon equipped, but it's been a long while since I've done them.
