    Not a lot of what scholar once had doesn't work in modern FFXIV. Leeches would be redundant assuming Esuna stays a role action. Sustain doesn't work since pets no longer have HP. And Selene's attack speed buffs would not fit into the more strict burst style rotations every job has. But beyond that, I don't see anything else being a conflict to the current design of the game.

    Sage has failed to live up to the fantasy of a sci-fi DPS healer. Please change this for 8.0. Make Sage fast, exciting, and aggressive. It should feel like a healer that plays like a DPS. Empower the aspects of Sage's unique healing mechanics: Kardia and Eukrasia to give its healing playstyle more identity.

    While there are a few old abilities that won't work with current SCH nowadays, it wouldn't hurt for the Job to have one or two of it's old DoTs back. If not their old DoTs, then I recommend that SE would find ways to bring Art of War and Ruin II into it's single target rotation. I think it'd be a great QoL change if all Healers have the opportunity to use their underutilized damage abilities in their damage rotation. SCH used to have this with Miasma III back in StB. It, as well as the other Healers, need that back along with shorten DoT timers and one (and only one) damage ability.

    If I recall, Yoshi-P said they wanted Healer AoE abilities to have different effects before EW released. Though in SE fashion, they failed to deliver.

    It's funny because SCH had not only Miasma 2 which was the only AoE DoT with Aero 3 for healers, they removed both, and it also had shadowflare which ironically I really miss for the simple reason that it actually acted as mitigation for the tank during pulls by slightly slowing the mobs.

    I remember that quote ; it was never touched again, no "maybe latter", just forgotten completely.
    I now think that what he meant was "healers, oh, whatever, their AoE will have new VISUAL effects"

    SCH has become a stronger job in spite of the pruning of its DPS kit because it’s the only healer that actually plays the way square designs modern fights so it ends up a powerhouse in spite of square continued attempts to strip it of every piece of flavour it has

    Square just doesn’t seem to understand that a healer can basically be ranked on its usefulness by its mitigation, the more mitigation the better and SCH gets unique access to critlo for mechanic cheesing, it’s just so unbelievably strong on that front but it’s always been like that

    SCH’s old DOT abilities would work fine (given shadowflare has 2 abilities right now that exist in the game), fey wind, sustain and a few pet buffs wouldn’t but its downtime DPS kit is totally workable in modern 14 even if instead of 5 dots it has maybe only 3
