Dawntrail Pre-Order question

I just returned to FFXIV, I have all the expansions up to Stormblood. My question is, if I pre-order Dawntrail now, will I get access to Endwalker and Shadowbringers now? Or do I have to wait till it releases?

I'd hate to spend $80. If I get access to them now, I'd probably opt for the collectors.

Heh, I'm still trying to decide if I want to level up Summoner (53) or Black Mage (60). Seems like Summoner got a bit of love since I've been gone. While the BLM just got more nukes (not a bad thing).

Buying Daentrail gets you access to Shadowbringers and Endwalker once Dawntrail releases.

If you buy Dawntrail now, you will not get access to Shadowbringers, Endwalker or Dawntrail until July 2nd after entering the code you are emailed that day.

However, to mitigate this I think Endwalker or the Complete edition may have deals on to make them cheaper. Those would give you access up to Endwalker right now.

If you buy an expansion, make sure that you previously bought the Starter or Complete edition, because those provide the base game which is required before applying expansion codes. You probably did, but if you are actually still on the free trial, then this is relevant.

Thanks for the quick response. It is as I feared. And unfortunately, there isn't any type of sale. Yeah, I already have the base game and first few expansions as collectors editions. I was a beta tester and player of the original FFXIV & Reborn.

It's such a moronic system. Just give people Dawntrail when they preorder. You took their money. This making people buy expansions on the brink of being bundled in is shady. Blizzard isn't even that bad. And that's saying something.

It's not even Endwalker. They do this every time. But to be fair, before you preorder it and you choose when you paid for it, and then they gave you the game code. Was it still convaluted and stupid? Yes, but before it made slightly more sense. This new payment company just takes the money. So everyone who preordered Dawntrail technically doesn't have something we paid for. And in a single-player game or a game that hasn't come out yet, that's a different story because that's how pre-ordering normally works, but in live service games, that's never the case. You preorder the newest thing your account is up to date, and when the thing comes out, you can play it.

It just screams to SquareEnix's problems with modernization and the players putting up with it. We shouldn't have to double dip to play the game this close to an expansion release. If I was the OP and I had to play this bad, I would just buy Endwalker for cheap and not buy Dawntrail until I caught up to it. That way they aren't getting milked.

This is why people hate steam lol stuff is on sale on mogstation/xiv store and not steam, makes no sense. These sales should always be across all platforms. Another L move from Square.
