    Graphical Update Character Creator Feedback [Miqo'te Male]

    I haven't used the forums before, so I have no clue if I'm doing this right, but there's something off I noticed with the before and after for my WoL during the benchmark. Every other angle looks practically the same except for the front. The race is Miqo'te male, face type is 4, eye shape 3. Hoping this is something that can be changed easily before the release of Dawntrail, or at least something that can be confirmed with someone else that I'm not crazy.

    Edit: I have realized that adding photos would make this easier... left updated, right current

    Alot of the sharp angular features seem to have gotten softened and rounded up...It kinda looks like a different face altogether.

    The face is slightly more rounded due to softer curves and less sharp edges.
    The lips don't look as wide and also more.. plump? Am I using that word correctly?

    Your Benchmark screenshot seems to be taken from a lower angle, so the eyebrows look more rounded and less sharp.
    This could however be due to the lower angle.

    Face 4 male miqo's I've seen (including my own) seem to have something really off going on with the eyes. The shading at the top of the is too dark and blends into the eyelashes and the eyelid itself might be even contoured a bit lower now?

    It gives them this weird sleepy/dopey look instead of being alert. Really disappointing overall.

    Problems:

    - dead eyes, they're not as bright as original
    - eye shape is wrong, they've completely altered the shape of them
    - the lids are lower making him look high and/or sleepy perpetually
    - they've softened the jawline and the angular shape of his face is part of what makes him him
    - his nose is a completely different shape, shorter and wider when it's supposed to be long and straight (again back to the softening of the angles)
    - his lips are weird and now look like he's giving perpetual duck face
    - they're reduced the saturation of the tattoos on his cheeks, which are essential to his whole character

    on the whole it's just AWFUL. awful awful awful. Which is sad because face 1 male miqo'te look MUCH more like their current version counterparts, though still have the lack of eyeshine problem and have the entirely different problem of the nerf to their fangs.



    Overall, just extremely unhappy

    All of this!! For some reason certain faces look so off compared to their current look while others are at least pretty on point. I don't know if they contoured the facial structure too harshly or what, but it doesn't look like the original character at all. The personality and vibe of it is thrown off going from a more alert eyed state and sharper face to sleepy/high eyes due to lowered eyelids and soft/round face.

    Completely not what I envisioned and not the character I've had for 10 years - I went with the sharp/alert face for a reason then.

    Unless i'm mistaken. They didn't change any of the geometry of the faces. Just the textures and shaders. The face is going to look irrevocably different by virtue of that. Because, quite frankly, they were god awful before, and you were used to that.

    I'm looking at your screenshots and that's all i'm seeing. Updated textures and shaders that make the shape of the face seem different. There are some things they can work on, like the eye shine and the default lipstick shape

    Then they've screwed up. Changes to textures shouldn't make the geometry of the faces look THAT different. Tell me, comparing my face 1 WoL to my face 4 WoL, that they are the same level of similarity, and I'll call you a liar, because they're NOT.

    One thing I also noticed, as a Face 3 Miqo player, is that the optional tattoos on the outside of his eyes have been paled a bit. (glitteringcosmos pointed this out too with their character's cheek tattoos. So I'm guessing it's consistent throughout tattoos?)
    This is one thing that's bothering me most because it feels like my character's face shape is read differently now that his tattoos no longer match his forehead marking ;-;



    He's a little more grey as well now, but I think I could get over that one personally. The tattoos no longer being dark bother me more ;-;
