    Same Class Skills, Different Animations

    Do you ever think they will bring back the skills that made the jobs more unique? I mean the ones that did the same thing but had a different name and animation. ex:

    Dispell a Debuff:
    WHM: Esuna
    SCH: Leeches

    MP Refresh:
    WHM: Lucid Dream
    AST: Luminiferous Aether

    They would still have the same number of slots because they would just be with the job and we wouldnt have class skills.

    they did the same thing but fit the aesthetic of the job better. I hope they bring these back.

    I wish they would and the reason is because we have many skills that do the same thing on different jobs and could be Role Actions, but are not. Yet others are. It doesn't make sense. For example, Sentinel/Vengeance/Nebula/Shadow Wall could be. Cure/Physick/Benefic/Diagnosis could be. Gap closers could be. The single target attack cast by healers could be. The DoT healers apply could be a Role Action. The aoe combos on tanks could be a Role Action that just do Total Eclipse animation. Tomahawk/Shield Lob/Lightning Shot/Unmend could become an Unmend role action.

    There is almost no end to how many things could be Role Actions now. They may as well just let each job have unique animations for their Role Actions so that they at least remain unique in some fashion.

    Yes. Role actions don't make any sense when half of the "unique" abilities of healers and tanks do the same thing anyway. What was even the point of deleting Leeches and replace it with Esuna but keeping different raises? If they're gonna homogenize the jobs mechanically, at least make them look as different as possible (since they also share gear).

    A lot of the things you listed should not be role actions because they are so dependent on a job's style. Movement actions. Healer attacks. AoE combos. Ranged enmity actions. None of those would be better served as role actions unless they changed the role action system entirely so that role actions were generic placeholders that each job filled in with their own specific action, and if that were the case then why even bother with a role action system.

    I could pretty much let go of Lucid Dreaming as SCH in favor of MP restore to return rightfully to Energy Drain.

    Same could be said of their stuns, rampart, etc. A low blow done by a Paladin seems strange.

    I guess to indicate which actions are homogenized, but still give them different animations.

    No, because this would make many players really upset. Imagine, you favourite job does 1,6% less DPS than other jobs. The forums and reddit and twitter would burn!

    You can say the same thing about skills that currently are role actions

    Why is PLD kicking out the opponents legs rather than doing something akin to a shield bash (which admittedly does exist), and why is DNC pinning an enemy down with its chakrams, what energy is GNB even tapping into to cast reprisal, why is any healer besides SCH able to use repose which is a darkness spell, why does a class that over Millenia specifically designed a rest phase to regen mana arbitrarily have a mana regen ability

    Half the current role actions make about as much sense as making healer damage spells or tank ranged attacks into role actions

    So that they could pretend the jobs of any given role differ more than they do.

    Or, equivalently, delete all Role Actions from the game. If multiple jobs in a role needs to be able to do X, each job can get its own, unique action with its own, unique animation.

    Homogenization of function is a separate issue from homogenization of form (appearance). And if the Dawntrail benchmark has taught us anything, OMG do people care about appearances.

    Does every healer need a raise? I'd say yes. Does every tank need a bland, 20% mitigation? I don't know.
