Character Apperance?

Is there any way that I can save my current character's appearance to one of those "saved" slots? I DO have on saved, but it's a much earlier version of what I have right now. This came to light hen I tried the DT Benchmark... and realized my one saved slot had an older version of my "look."

Am I correct in assuming my current character WILL get carried over for Dawntrail?

Yes, your current character will still be the same in Dawntrail but with updated texture/shader quality/slight model adjustments.

Our understanding is that SE will give a free Fantasia upon Dawntrail release, so that your character can be altered to something that looks good with the new graphics.

When you create a new character or (I think) use a Fantasia, you can select from character appearances you saved previously. However, it may not show the ones made in the Benchmark if the save files weren't copied from the Benchmark to Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn.

Likewise, if you use the benchmark, it is possible that it's not seeing all of the character saves if they aren't in Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn (Benchmark).

I think it sees them for me regardless though, without copying them, as long as they are in one of these folders.

Erratum: Just use the "Save Appearance Data" option in the character selection submenu.

Original (don't do this):

If you did not save your current character appearance before, and you want to do so without modifying it:

1. Drink a Fantasia.
2. Remove all your equipment except your weapon.
3. Log out.
4. Return to character select.
5. Right click your character and choose to change their appearance.
6. When asked if you want to load character appearance, do not.
7. Save your character appearance.
8. Exit the character editor without applying changes.

If you don't want to drink a fantasia, you can load the most recent save into the benchmark or the game, modify it to be in line with your current appearance, and save. This one of course requires you remember all the settings that you changed since then if you want to be accurate.

No pop-up on the image of me, but I got the drop down on my name in the upper right hand corner. Saved my live appearance (slot 3). In the Char Creation in the benchmark, the drop down only listed my 2 very old saved appearances (slots 1 & 2). Somehow I managed to get to select what I had saved (slot 3). Fine, now I have to right appearance. To accept & confirm I had to save the appearance again (slot 4).

Yeah I know they are working on Char Creation in the benchmark app, I was interested to see what my toon looked like with the graphics changes, but I can wait for the next version of the benchmark tool. My current VERY old system (14 year old Mac Pro running bootcamp/win10) mostly handles it decently but not very well... sometime when I can snag a good price, I'll get a new PC and I DO want to go 4k, probably more for MSFS than FFXIV.
