Can cross-world mailing ever become a thing?

Im curious if there is any reason for us to NOT be able to . Ive made a lot of friends off world since i travel alot for duties (dynamis is my homeworld). Ive missed out on bonding ceremonies also because of this.

so should it be a thing? at least to friends?

Unless there is a limitation issue, I would like it. Hell maybe make it Pixie mail to keep it lore accurate to the whole Cross world travel idea.

I'd like to see them do cross-DC PF first.

It's to do with physical machines being separate. When you travel to another world, you can't access mail or retainers and it's something related to how you don't carry that information with you into dungeons or to other worlds.

They do have cross-world mechanisms such as Free Company chat, Cross-World Linkshells and Cross-World Party Finder. So it could happen someday. But because the game was designed for single world gameplay, it's most likely going to be a rework they put off. They often release new cross-world functionality near the end of an expansion, so if we get it, it would probably be 7.5x, 8.5x, etc.

If they fully embraced cloud servers, they might find it easier to make an adjustment like this as well. So we will just have to see.

(Since you mentioned Dynamis, I need to point out that this isn't just cross-world, it's cross-data center, but within the same region that is another distinction created by physical machine separation that may be different with cloud servers)
