[Suggestion] City-state linkpearls (for shouts)

It would be nice, given we have linkpearl technology, to be able to hear shouts of a certain city-state (or sub-part thereof), by equipping a specific linkpearl (obtained via a quest no doubt).

This would allow players to be elsewhere, but hear shouts of interest, which could help congestion in some areas. Presumably content finder will ameliorate the need for this somewhat, but I think we all know shouts for come content will in all likelihood live on to some extent.

EDIT: seems like this would have been suggested a few times before, but I honestly don't recall seeing it.

I like the idea of not having to stand in Ul'dah to see what events are going on, it would be cool if you could use them to send messages, as long as they were restricted to only being usable in cities and aetheryte camps. World chat is obnoxious to say the least.

Edit: and I swear I remember hearing something along the lines of an aetheryte chat channel pre-release, as a means of keeping people out at aetheryte camps and not flooding the main cities.

Wouldn't it be better to just allow players to create private channels and leave linkshells for social chatting? Or perhaps create a Looking For Group tab in addition to the General and Battle tabs in our chat window?

I am pretty sure it was on an early episode of Aetheryte Radio, but they mentioned something along the lines of an aetheryte chat channel that was linked to all the aetheryte crystals. It may have been purely speculation, but that would really help the people seeking an alternative to the LFG tool.

they should have it where when they flag for party they go to a LFG chat? but doesn't LFG finder will put them with other people from other servers? i'm still not understanding how that will work.

they should just include world chat allow and the user to enable/disable it.getting annoying having to stand in the city looking for groups when i can be out grinding or out grinding and missing a group

And that's sad. We shouldn't have to rely on third party tools (Guildwork client) and third party websites just to be able to access a very simple feature such as a global chat (or private channels)...

And I don't like OP idea. SE should just give us a proper chat system. No need for something rubbish in between like SE tried to do on XI with shouts working in several areas... We shouldn't have any technical limitation on XIV 2.0 to be able to grant players the freedom to chat with anyone, anywhere, at anytime.

In before "but that's not roleplay!"... yeah right. How are /tells roleplay? The roleplay argument shouldn't be present when it comes to basic communication functionality.

If by "lazyring around" you mean questing/grinding/browsing the AH/actually playing the game as opposed to standing in Ul'dah with one option: crafting, then yes!
