    Developers: So I hit 90

I returned to the game while I wait for WOW to begin a new expansion.

    Primary game WOW
    Secondary game ESO
    tertiary FF14
I support 1-2 of these games at anyone time and play a host of others at other times.
I really enjoyed shadow bringers and the previous expansion. I am a basic gamer and I have an idea of what works and what doesnt.

I am not sure where I am in the MSQ I seem to be running around saving babies and watch other people fight my fights. I seem to be delivering messages and watching people talk and talk and talk and talk. There is no end.to mind numbing story. There is no quest action not like wow or ESO. The world is dying and everyone is busy waxing philosophical. There are freaking rabbits on the moon and the moon is a space ship.

    Seriously.

Gear is non existent I have the 330 gear I wore at the end of shadowbringers all the way to 90, i go to find some gear to buy and there is nothing. I have to complete the mind numbing MSQ to being earning the crap I need to progress. There are no new powers just additions to previous powers. There is no sense in anyway that my character has grown in power . But I can take orders from every tom dick and harry.

Devs you absolutely have to change the way you do the story, you absolutely have to find a way to create a sense of progression during the MSQ or your game will continue to die. You absolutely have to have meaningful gear drops if we do a necessary dungeon or trial. No fing reward for doing the trial in the MSQ but to advance the MSQ you have to do them how you got away with this previously was probably due to good story telling.

Do better in the mean time I am dropping my sub(not even a month into it) and going back to ESO while I wait for WOW. ESO has a similar progression problem but at least I wont be bored. Wow what a change from shadow bringers and the previous expansion WTF guys. what happened.

The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.

I'm not sure how you think gearing up has changed in the game. Cause it's been pretty much the same since Heavensward where the previous expansion's tome gear or in HW's case the base game equals out stat wise to the lv 55, 65, 75 and 85 dungeon. With stat increases starting at the 57. 67, 77 and 87 dungeons. Obtaining one's job gear somewhere around the going into the final zone or right before you hit the final dungeon. Same thing with post. 0 gearing. Now it's fine if you don't like or haven't enjoyed the story. Tho you're obviously not posting with your lv 90 job so some like the above poster will take your words with a grain of salt. Also there's a very long thread about how "trash" the story is if you want to add to it. Not that they stick to that.

Just looked your character up on The Lodestone, and found out you've been playing SMN. So it's no wonder you're bored. You're playing the most boring job in the game.

Okey, i will answer you with the most respect i can muster:

    The heck?

Dude, you get gear on every corner, the msq involves every dungeon of the expansion and every trial, okey good you dont get shit in the trials because you run it with randoms... but you get gear with the msq so i call BS on your whole rant.

AND: HOW DARE YOU TO INSULT THE STORY!

In FF14 i cried because of the story... well okey i also cried because of WoW's Story, but that time it was more a "oh god who did shit in the brains of the devs." kind of way. In FF14 the tears were real.

    1. You can buy gear in the market
    2. You can get gear from dungeons. You can do dungeons solo with NPCs (Duty Support / Trust)
    3. You get gear upgrades from MSQ, so unless you threw those away you should have the most current one.
    4. There's artifact gear, which was explained during MSQ.
    5. You can get gear with tomestones.
    6. You can progress your crafting/gathering and get 2nd Best in Slot gear. The best weapons and tools are also given out by a grindy quest you can solo.

No, the game is fine, better than WoW or ESO, you just took a long break, forgot how to play and now demand the devs to fix a problem you created for yourself. I suggest you browse GarlandTools or Teamcraft and look up the gear you want, i'm sure an experienced player like yourself can figure out the item levels and drop locations.

Also, the story is not boring, you just skipped through dialog probably and didn't care enought o pay attention. That's fine, actually. If story is not hyper enough for you you can skip it, but don't complain about it being bad when you only have to do it once, unlike WoW.

The "engaging" gameplay comes after the MSQ. Extreme, Savage, Ultimate are available after you finish the X.0 MSQ each patch. If you don't like the story, just skip the cutscenes and rush through it so you can play the harder contents.

I am not sure where I am in the MSQ
Alright, so you forgot the story. There are a number of ways to remind yourself:
    • Re-watch patch trailers to remind yourself what happens prior to Endwalker at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qoug...vBe3k&index=16
    • Re-watch the cutscenes at The Unending Journey at an Inn.
    • Re-read the quest journal by opening it and clicking "Complete" (but this takes ages).
    • Often things just come back to you vaguely when characters reference events, even if it's been years.
I seem to be running around saving babies and watch other people fight my fights.
I mean, sometimes. You do an awful lots of the chores (like the hero does in most games), but they want to make other characters seem a bit useful.
I seem to be delivering messages and watching people talk and talk and talk and talk.
Well it is a story-driven game. It's not just fight fight fight like some sort of tournament game.
There is no end.to mind numbing story.
Well there wouldn't be in a story-driven game, especially a Final Fantasy game, which has been known for being story-driven for decades.
There is no quest action not like wow or ESO.
Many single player games like to deliver the story as you're walking along and do voiced dialogue as you move and fight, but for this game that is mostly done in cutscenes, apart from the solo battles. Just how it is. The fights are either easy open world battles or eventually put you into dungeons and trials with other players.
There are freaking rabbits on the moon and the moon is a space ship.
That happens throughout the game really. They have a lighthearted thing such as an area full of moogles in Heavensward, an area full of Namazu and Turtles in Stormblood, an area full of Pixies and Dwarves in Shadowbringers. They setup for the (optional) beast tribe quests later.
Gear is non existent I have the 330 gear I wore at the end of shadowbringers all the way to 90
    That's very strange.
    • The MSQ awards you coffers, which when redeemed, increase your item level to what is required for your next dungeon.
    • Obviously, you get dungeon loot sometimes, guaranteed from leveling dungeons too. You can equip the best gear automatically by clicking the "Recommended Gear" button on your character page.
    • You can get the best gear (400 or 530 gear) by spending Allagan Tomestones of Poetics from the blue bag icon at city states (Kugane and The Crystarium respectively).
    • You can buy low-quality vendor gear (385 and 515 from Kugane and The Crystarium respectively) but it's not as good as other gear of the same item level.
    • You can buy High-Quality versions of the vendor gear from the Market Board if anyone crafted it, or visit another server and check the market board there.
There are no new powers just additions to previous powers.
They don't want to overwhelm people's hotbars. They started to solve the excessive actions by "upgrading" the effects, animations and potencies of actions. Unused ones have been removed over the years as well, which is why lower levels can feel lackluster on some classes.
There is no sense in anyway that my character has grown in power .
Must be your chosen class, because most of them do feel like they grow for sure. Warrior is one of the few that kinda stays the same.
or your game will continue to die.
Statistically it has grown every single expansion, new data centers have had to be added to cope with congestion and Dawntrail set a record for pre-orders so... it ain't dying. On a pure statistical level, with no other context, your statement is objectively flawed.
