    NG+ Start Spots

I was looking through the game for some specific screenshots for art reference, but I can't get them without going back to previous parts of the game. Unfortunately, it would also mean slogging through a large portion of the MSQ to get to that point, and I don't want to do that at the moment. Is there some back-end reason the New Game Plus can't be broken down into smaller sections? Or heck, be broken down by individual quest, so you can start anywhere? I'm guessing there's a back-end reason for it, but can't figure out what it would be. I'm at least curious to know the answer, if nothing else.

NG+ was added to help players re-experience the main story and important side quests, not to get screenshots. I hate to think how large the interface for NG+ would get if it had to list every single one of those quests as a possible starting point. They have the MSQ more or less grouped so you get a good part of the story that ends at a reasonable place without being exceptionally long.

There is a possible alternative that's much simpler to use if you're trying to get a screenshot from a specific cutscene and that would be the Unending Journey, which is available in inn rooms and also as a housing item. It contains almost all of the MSQ cutscenes so you just need to select the name of the quest and you can rewatch the cutscenes that were part of the quest. The only major cutscene I can think of that it doesn't include is the cutscene at the end of the final solo battle in 6.0 (though there may be a few others). If that's the one you're after, then I'm afraid you will need to replay the second half of 6.0.

If the Unending Journey doesn't have what you're after, it will at least be much faster to get through the MSQ since you can skip all the cutscenes until the desired quest and will have access to flying to speed up travel if you unlocked it in the zones that you need to pass through. If it's a lower level part of the MSQ, you can do the dungeons/trials solo unsynced very quickly or grab a friend to help. If it's a higher level dungeon you don't feel you can solo or an Endwalker dungeon/trial (won't be able to do unsynced until Dawntrail is released), you can always use Duty Support if you don't want to direct queue for a dungeon though you'd still need to get a party for the trials other than the level 89 trial.

While "start at any quest" might be unfeasible, I don't think they have succeeded that well in making the chapters "not unreasonably long" when the main story is only broken into two chapters. Four or five would be better.
