7.0 Graphics Update About Hyurs - Opinions, Requests, Discussion, etc.

Because I was personally unhappy, I wanted to create a thread in an attempt to gather concise thoughts on those who play as Hyur Characters.

As I understand there are other threads on specific race/subrace/gender, I hope to compile this majority's thoughts as a whole.

I hope for this to become a pretty sizeable thread. So I highly encourage any who play as Hyur (Midlander/Highlander - Male/Female) to join and share your feedback.

I hope we can make an attempt to express our thoughts with the respect for each others ideas and opinions.

Finally, this is really just an ask for players (at least a few,) to combine our voices together into one, so we are heard more clearly.

About The Midlander Male Hyur Face 5

(I spoke about this, but I feel that I could make a little more effort in explaining my feedback.
If you're curious you can find that here: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...haracter-model)

    Eyes

The shape is changed considerably. This makes it hard for players to recognize characters immediately. Outline of the eye has become bold, which feels like forced mascara or makeup on the character. Size of the pupil was increased, and the strength of the dark hues promote muddy colors. Catchlights are not noticeable as well. It gives a lifeless feeling, even with a vibrant eye color.

    Suggestions
    - Optional Catchlight
    - Iris size being reduced. Or an option akin to existing Large and small eye size options.
    - Toning down the strength of darker hues
    - Lessen the outer lines of the eyes, specifically the lower lid. Lessing the opacity from black to a more suitable blend of skin color.

    Lips

Reflective light that mimics a lip gloss texture is gone. Colors have become more opaque and harder to match the skin tone in a pleasing way. Some players use the lipstick option to allow characters to have a lip color that blends well with the skin tone. Unique lip shapes across majority of race/genders have been replaced for more uniform shape, which takes away personality and even vital detail/traits of a race.

    Suggestions
    - Gloss option
    - Lip shape alternatives that accommodate for unique racial features
    - Tweak the lighting interaction to allow depth in details of the area

    Nose

Nose and along other areas of the face have become smoother. Sometimes, sharper traits are important for a character's look. Due to the lighting, areas and smaller details have trouble being defined properly.

    Suggestions
    - Tweaking the lighting to allow shadows that cast properly onto the skin and define a character's traits.
    - Varity of options that allow the face shape and nose to be a little more sharp.

    In general:

As features are tweaked and changed while noticeably becoming larger, the face is unable to balance everything properly. Thus a sense of unnaturalness comes. Skin texture and lighting have a huge play in this. Without the proper shadows and lighting in a character creator screen, players are often misled. Colors also seemed to have faded on the characters, making features like eyebrows a little nonexistent.

When I hear graphics update, I expect higher quality texture updates more than a change in different features and shapes. Even if the character may look cooler in action, I still want to look beautiful just standing idly.
If you feel the need to change looks, make it an additional option rather than overhauling without proper reason.
