This I didn't know. Where did you learn about it?Anyway, yeah. The faces got 60 new bones, which are mostly found in the eyes and mouths. I have no doubt it's to make them more expressive in the cutscenes, and it's also likely why they got hit the hardest. They had to redo them instead of just "painting over them," so to speak.
I really do not mean to be rude, but you commented in this thread to the effect of "that is not true, other places no one is saying anything" (which was not true), so it does come across as you finding fault. Any "petty argument" I've seen, so far that I've seen at least so yeah I could be wrong too, has been people telling other people how to feel about the update so I can't really blame anyone for being defensive when someone is telling them how to feel about their character.Yeah -- which is why I said in my very own post that the reason you're seeing mostly negativity here is because that is what it is for, and why I went out of my way to say that people SHOULD be voicing their grievances and concerns, even if I personally don't have any because my character came out looking great. I will NEVER fault anyone for being upset about ANY aspect of the game. I just wish it didn't have to devolve in to petty arguments all the time, regardless of which side of the fence you stand on.
I apologize, I actually didn't realize how much more conversation happened in this thread from what I initially saw. I'll admit that I wrote this a while ago without pressing enter and then went AFK to get a sandwich, so I'll take that L.I have said over and over again in my comments that there are LEGITIMATE problems that need to be addressed and that just because I am happy with MY character does not mean everyone should be happy with theirs. I preface all of my comments with this because I KNOW people are going to just look to get angry with me for liking the changes to MY character.
I don't know where I've downplayed any of this at all. I've said repeatedly that some of the changes I've seen to eyebrows, mouths, and other things like the Hellsguard smudge NEED to be addressed.
I have gone out of my way so many times to include this in my comments because people have been eager to be upset with me for daring to like the changes to my character. Please stop.
From people who have ripped the benchmark models on Twitter. Not that it invalidates the concerns people have about eyes and mouths, but it does go some ways to explaining why they were hit so hard.
I mean, you have people disregarding me for being happy with the changes in this very thread. It goes both ways.I really do not mean to be rude, but you commented in this thread to the effect of "that is not true, other places no one is saying anything" (which was not true), so it does come across as you finding fault. But, for the record and the sake of my own sanity -- EVERY. SINGLE. COMPLAINT. is 100% valid. Nobody should be silenced or disregarded. Even if I disagree with you and find the changes to be great. My opinion is not more valid than anyone else's.
The only thing I am truly sick of is the hyperbole. All it does is create echo chambers and limit actual discussion.
<3 it's all good, and I can understand why the kneejerk might have happened. There HAVE been rude people whose entire mindset is "well I like my character so idc what you think."

They're changing the graphics, of course they'd be altered. Just putting the same models in the new lighting will alter how they look somewhat.
The point of the fantasia would be for changing eye color or skin color if they don't quite look the same with the new lighting. Not for making a whole new character because they completely changed the face you were using for no good reason.
One wrong does not make a right, Embran. Sometimes it's simply better not to engage. Personally, I'm glad for you that you're happy with your character in the update. It's just really disappointing and people are sad so, yes, I can imagine some people lashing out in frustration towards people who express they are happy with results. That's why it's sometimes better to just not engage when it's something that is as emotionally charged as the topic is of people and their personal characters/WoLs right now.I mean, you have people disregarding me for being happy with the changes in this very thread. I'm genuinely confused where the disagreement is between us? We both agree that changes need to be made to the things people are unhappy about. One wrong does not make a right, Embran. Can you point to where I told people how they should feel about their characters? Because I've said many times now many things need to be changed and that everyone's concerns are valid.
This is becoming a little too melodramatic for my tastes.

Wasn't there also something about them moving to a single head basemesh that all Face selections on all races are derived from?
If so, the additional geometry on the base might have unexpectedly messed with the morph target results
I'm not making a disagreement with you in these last few comments, to be honest. I'm genuinely trying to engage with you in a discussion since my initial comment, and in the following responses from you, I get the impression that you're frustrated because you've gotten negative reactions somewhere or somehow. Again, I don't mean to be rude, but your tone in your comments tends to, like in this response to me alone, doesn't come across as you engaging in good faith. Anyway, that is it from me since, to be honest, there is nothing else I can add that would contribute anything to the discussion of this thread in particular.
