More than that, I’ve already said I liked the updates in other threads and I’ve just gotten pushback like “good for you, nobody asked” from people who are frustrated by them. I understand why others would want to drown out the positive sentiment regarding the updates in hopes that they don’t go through, but expressing positive sentiment here usually paints a target on your back. I dare not say that I enjoyed Endwalker’s MSQ.

The problem is that the data you're pulling is an extremely tiny percentage of the overall player base, and one that is predisposed to have a negative opinion. This makes any conclusion you draw from that data ultimately meaningless.

It doesn't seem like it's coming from a place of concern. It just seems like an excuse to make a "screw Square Enix, am I right guys?" thread and get a bunch of virtual high fives.

That doesn't matter- OP is objectively correct here

It's a fact that CBU3 said they weren't going to make characters look different, and it's a fact that there are several faces that have had their meshes changed in some way

That said, a lot of it is probably due to haphazard use of Subdivision smoothing out detail

They didn't say they weren't going to make them look different. They said they were going to try and keep them from looking as different as possible.

This is why hyperbole is stupid and why the title should have avoided calling an extremely subjective matter "objective" because instead of actually leaving feedback, we are now going to get in to a 10 page argument about whose hyperbole is better.

There are a lot of legitimate concerns and grievances and feedback is good and can only help everyone be happy with their characters. It's a shame we have to waste that energy arguing semantics.

Based on OP's quotes, they literally did.

Even if that minor change to the phrasing was the case, it still means they didn't follow through, as- like I said- there are literal changes to certain facial features on meshes.

They said "overall appearance of player characters will be altered as little as possible."

"As little as possible" quite literally means still altered to some degree.

If that weren't the case there would be no point in handing out a free fantasia to everyone.
