I know at this point, it wouldn’t happen any time soon, or be a big priority, but with the new graphics update, I’d like to suggest getting something like a white screen or white room with neutral lighting added to the environment choices of the character creator.

I’ve always struggled with the lighting of the different scenes available… the aether background always gives off a blue tint. The Limsa, Gridania and Uldah outdoor environments all struggle with finding a good lighting angle to really see what you’re changing. And the light changes as you’re making your character, completely removing a good light source once the sun starts setting or hiding behind trees. The inn room is just too dark to see anything! You could adjust the brightness on your monitor, but that’s not going to give you an accurate idea of how the character will look in the actual game.

As I play around with the benchmark character creator, I’m left wondering how many things that concern me might just be the bad lighting in these settings. And I find it hard to clearly see the eye color on the Hrothgals in any scene. I will probably have to go to my apartment, look at them against a white screen and then have to make edits with a Fantasia. Which thankfully we’re getting one, but would be nice to skip a step!
