7.0 Graphics Update - Miqo'te eyes

Hello! I wanted to post about my opinions of the new graphical update. The benchmark trailer was amazing and overall I do think they did a great job upgrading the general graphics.

The thing though, is when I loaded my character to the creation screen... It's definitely not her.



Her eyes are too rounded and I think that's the problem with the new female Miqo'te eyes.





I'm sure there's more comparisons out there, but hopefully this shows what I mean. Could be the eyelashes, but these faces don't have any makeup/face paint. It feels like they've just turned all (female) Miqos into a doll and each of the eye options kind of lose their originality.

To hear the promise of "We want your character to still be your character, but prettier" and then see this - well, this ain't it. If I wanted round eyes for my WoL I would choose that option.

Lips are a whole other topic, I'm sure all races are facing the same problem. Darker with not many options to tone it down. The matte lips clashes and wanting the glossy lips back. The overall lip shape.

Again, I don't doubt the 7.0 graphical update is pretty.



You can definitely see the glow-up. But once you zoom out, it's a whole different story. I can deal with lighting changes, sure I'll tweak the color palettes around. But if you change the eyes to all be big and round, that's not going to be the same Miqo'te.

I really was looking forward to the graphical update for my character, but ended up being pretty disappointed. Hopefully they can address these issues, but with DT being about 2 months away, I'm not really holding onto much hope.

I agree, ESPECIALLY the lips
The lips are just so wrong, and what is with the huge horizontal crease that looks permanently punched in from every angle and facial expression?

I don't think problem is that they are more rounded in general, mine look less rounded in the benchmark. The problem is rather that there seems to be a single set-form of eyelashes, which changes the perceived shapes of eyes quite a bit. In my case they look less round, but in others they can make them appear more round. Eyebrows are very different too, even in a different colour for me. Also a skin fold where the eyes and close to the nose. Very disappointed too.

So... On some examples, here, on Sun tribe face 4 eye 6, the shape of the eye is not even the same as before. I know it seems like a small detail, but man, it's really a big change when you look at it a little further... I mean, it's coming from my main character that I've been playing since the early days , back in ARR, and I can't even recognize her now. It's truly sad...

Its getting the same weird eye treatment like wow did with eyes in dragonflight. Weird.

Have been generally dissatisfied with the new look for the miqo eyes aswell. Especially on small eyes it just looks even worse ,even more so in the benchmark haha. Just look so incredibly dull and soulless. Going for a more "realistic" look isn't what I started playing this game for and don't really know who even wanted it. Better textures and higher fidelity sure , especially after experiencing Pixel Exarch , but this? Idk


Small addition aswell , it was really neat for miqo'te to actually feel like they have genuine cat eyes! I only realized this today after looking at some of my cats and how much closer the original iris feel can be to cat eyes than the current update with the darkened top half of irises across the board.


It just would be really neat if this change was a choice that players can make rather it being forced upon them.
