We need to compromise as a player base

I truly don’t understand what your goal is here. You have been all over every single thread about the graphics update for hours now, repeating the reminder that adjustments will be made before release while simultaneously attempting to shut down or belittle any criticism being offered. Where do you think the final adjustments are going to come from if not from player feedback?

More to the point, if you’re going to take the attitude that displeasing a large portion of players is some sort of necessary sacrifice, I have no further reason to engage with you. Let’s not even get into the implications of you telling me, even metaphorically, that I need to be led to slaughter.

You are accomplishing nothing except being rude and unhelpful. My condolences to anyone else who has to put up with it today.

I’m sorry, but I don’t agree. People have every right to express their upset, and it is not our job to tone police ourselves so that the devs don’t get scared of trying new things. Many people, myself included, are extremely unhappy with how our characters look, and nebulous ideas about “bringing the game into the future” are not worth the heartbreak of feeling like you’re losing a character you’ve grown attached to for years. Update the graphics, sure, but don’t take our characters from us.

They didn’t take your character from you. When looked at objectively, if you showed the two pictures of your character to a third party that does not play this game and told them they were the same character they would believe you without thinking twice. People are just pixel peeping. So yes, there are subtle differences but I do think they were trying to be faithful to the original low res character.

Further more, it is absolutely worth the heart break of losing a low resolution character when the new one looks similar enough if it means the game will look better over all and attract new players and stay fresh. After all very few people would keep playing the game if everyone quit, and that’s exactly what happens to most outdated games.

So again, provide your feedback about what you would like to see but look at the larger picture. They are VERY similar. If they had to rework assets in the characters I’m sure there were reasons for the differences, adding polygons will slightly alter looks, the person who designed some features originally may no longer be there and the new designer rebuilt the asset in a way they thought was similar, etc etc…

The characters look undeniably similar. I saw you on another page here accusing someone else of being rude, all that’s being asked is that you don’t be rude to the devs and be understanding.

Not the original person you were replying to, but I showed my character to my husband with the before and after and he said it looked like she was constantly holding air in her cheeks. So sure, same character, but also not looking the same. And I'll be walking through DT with her looking like she's holding her breath with these round cheeks and dimpled mouth corners.

I'm happy with all the graphical updates they have showcased so far. But changing the design of the characters isn't what they promised.

Few examples of design changes:
- Dilated pupils on F Au Ra.
- Smaller pupils on Veena Viera.
- Fuller lips all across the board.
- Mid Hyur beards being less visible.
- Scars look like a hair strand.
- Removed static eye highlights.

These does not look like incidents or byproducts of the graphic updates. It looks like a person or a team with full conscious decided to change the design in the process of reworking the character 3D models.
Yoshi-P himself stated that they will try to make the characters as close as possible with current state, which they clearly failed to do so on the benchmark build. A free fantasia is honestly isn't even worth a consolation prize for people who have grown attached to their characters and only found their characters to be unrecognizable no matter how much they tinkered with the options. No free fantasia can fix that and nothing can justify compromising on promises they broke themselves.

The devs spent too much time paying attention to environments while neglecting on the characters.

I guess, after two weeks of playing with the new character models, most players will be OK with them. Some changes are simply fixed bugs like the lip gap on some Miqo and Hyur faces or buggy normal maps on some Elezen faces or the two white dots in the eyes of most characters or jagged lips etc.

I think your energy is better spend trying to get people to collate and consolidate the information so it doesn't overload/lag.
Which I assume is what you want, but always linking and posting to the same thing(which at this point everyone knows, cause you've said repeatedly.) doesn't help or stop, but make others perpetuate it even more.

we Know at the core what they want, their limits, their PR speak, and also that they do their utmost to met and achieve what they desire.

Which for the Devs, is to balance what their projections are, and feed the consumer enough to keep them happy.

Sadly, your method of going about it could only succeed in a complete freeze of feedback.
