Benchmark Feedback for Hellsguard Roe: Bring Back The Smudge

Hello friends! This is my first FFXIV forum post after being subbed for four years, so consider this post as a necessary action in light of the graphics update.

To devs: Please let Hellsguard Roes keep the pronounced black smudge underneath their nose! To me and many other Hellsguard players, the black smudge is a charm point and a key facial feature that is uniquely attributed to Hellsguard Roe. A removal of a Hellsguard's smudge is simply equivalent to a removal of an angel's wings.

I will say that I really do enjoy the higher quality textures and the lighting improvements; All I request is just a more pronounced smudge.

100% agree!! It looks more like a shadow with the graphical update. Please let the Hellsguard keep their bear noses

I always considered it a burn on their nose due to the name. But yes I would like it to be more pronounced, I loved that part of them!

If it isn't going to be reverted to better match the previous look, it should at least be a toggle. I've read that it's supposed to be applied as make up, so let us at least have the choice to keep it bold and pronounced if we wish. My Roegadyn looks naked without it.

Yes, please bring back the charm point of Hellsguard. Its current state looks like this line that just cuts the nose awkwardly. It's gotta be more prominent.

it's a feature we'd shared much endearment over with fellow hellsguard players throughout these years. a great many of us would love to see it preserved !

I disagree and think it looks better the new way and like how subtle it is now.

But we should however have the option to have it on or off, and it should be in the Facial Features list like scars so people can have a stronger marking if they desire. That wouldn't be a huge undertaking and would make everyone happy.

The smudge was the one thing I loved most about my roe, and it baffles me why they would purposely make a race-defining trait less noticeable!

Support for this! At the very least, give us the option between the old darker and new lighter.

It should be a paint option. From the lore:

"You will very often see a Hellsguard with a blackened or shadowed stain on the bottom of their nose. This is
actually ash from the volcano (or a substitute for it if they’re not in Abalathia) and is a popular cultural
practice of their homeland. The ash can mean a variety of things (more than likely dependent on the village)
from being a ward of protection, a proud mark of some victory or conquered feat, or honoring one’s
ancestors that have passed on. Not all Hellsguard wear ash and those that do more than likely don’t do it all
day/every day. You’ll notice that Curious Gorge does not wear ash and is never seen with it."
