Firstly, I wanted to say that for the most part I'm very excited for the graphics update and am happy it's coming in 7.0--thank you to all involved for your efforts! (I am especially happy with how much better my character's ponytail hair textures are compared to before.)

I am however experiencing the same sort of disconnect with the eyes of female Midlander face 5 described in this thread. Even after comparing the live character creator with the DT benchmark for hours side by side, making corrections trying to match my character's current appearance as best as possible in 7.0, there isn't a way right now to adjust the eyeliner to be truly comparable.

This is my side by side with skin, eye color, etc adjustments applied in the benchmark, using the same lighting and location/angle on the Limsa map.

In pre-DT character creation, the lower eyelid is not nearly as solid black and gives the impression of lower lashes with just a hint of mascara applied (if any) to the outer lashes. I've never had the impression that eyeliner was applied to my character's lower lid, as is clearly and heavily applied in the benchmark character creator.

Others have illustrated why this changes the look of the entire face from a front angle view already, so I won't post additional reference screenshots for that. (I agree that as-is it looks like my character has a black eye in the opening shot of the benchmark video, depending on the lighting for each eye. The heavy eyeliner also felt "off" to me for the rest of the video--it was more "dramatic" a style than what I prefer for my character.)

I did use Google to find makeup reference images to show the difference in the makeup looks for the eyes in real life terms. (I rarely wear makeup and, when I do, I always wear a very natural look with no eyeliner and minimal mascara and/or eye shadow. This personal preference informed my character's creation in FF14 a decade ago.)

This image illustrates the change nicely in terms of two different eye makeup techniques, the left being the benchmark equivalent and the right being the pre-DT equivalent:

This was a stand-alone image I found that reminded me very much of how dramatic and heavy the eyeliner makeup is in the benchmark. (Minus the tail of the cat eye eyeliner stretching this far in-game, it's otherwise a very similar effect to the benchmark face 5 eye):

There are people who prefer the new makeup look, and that's not a bad thing at all. I'd just like to echo the sentiment of others that a slider/toggle which allows us to choose between the more intense eye makeup currently present in the new face 5 vs. the more natural eye makeup from the original face 5 would be much appreciated.

Thank you for considering this feedback!

I made another post about the problems of midlander face 5, and this was one of them. I fully agree that the new makeup is excessive and it should be a toggle in facial features and not the default.

I made a really long post about this in another thread here but long story short: yeah, I really want them to redo the texture work for this face to reduce this.

Maybe even make it a toggle if there are people who do like it. But it doesn't fit with my WoL's picture in my head.
