[Graphics Update Feedback] Eyebrows

Bumping this thread and sharing my concerns, especially now that we have an update from Yoshi-P.

I’ve also noticed my male miqo face 3 has lighter eyebrows. Face 3 has an option to make the eyebrows thicker/darker/longer, which is what I chose for my boy, but in the benchmark it’s not as obvious I even chose this option.

They’re not as dark and get lighter/sparser as they taper to the tail. (Realizing now I probably should use a different hairstyle to show the differences better…)

This isn’t as bothersome as the eyebrows on my face 1 midlander boy though, which have changed completely.



I chose his current eyebrows because they were very different from the other options; they’re thick and have a sculpted look, almost like he purposely shaped them that way with the very distinct arch. It was part of his character and a huge charm point. But with the update they’re thin and have lost the sharp arch. It seems like they redid those eyebrows to make them match up with the other options, and it really changes his whole character for me. I understand wanting to bringing certain features in line with others, but eyebrows are something that should be MORE distinct and less homogenous, to give characters more personality and make them less same-y from the others with the same face. Some races do this better than others, and I was pleased this face had an option that looked different and wasn’t just based on how the brow is angled over the brow bone (if that makes sense, I’m no aesthetician).

After Yoshi-P’s update this is the biggest concern for me since it wasn’t mentioned and I think it’s clear these eyebrows are different in a way that goes beyond bad lighting and shaders. I know it’s nitpicky and I honestly feel bad complaining about it, but as mentioned here, eyebrows are a really important feature and express character and individuality.

Anyway, that’s my two cents. Does anyone know if the JP forum has brought up eyebrows? I’d take this over there if I could, just to feel like this issue (eyebrows in general) is being seen.

Duskwight face 1 eyebrows went from black to blonde. Here's a close up comparison between benchmark and character creation:



In Endwalker live game's outfit preview window you can see in neutral lighting the difference in color between the hair and the eyebrows. I don't want to lose that in the graphical update.

Hopping on here (first time on this forum so hope i'm doing this right); I have a face 3 M Miqo'te and I noticed this issue too. My char's eyebrows are not only thinner now, but are a lot more crooked/upturned (?)

It also seems like the thicker eyebrows asset wasn't upscaled with the rest of the model, like the new eyebrows look offset and smaller than they did originally. I really hope they fix this as it's like the main characteristic that I go for on my character.

I know the lighting is different on these but there's clearly a different shape to the new eyebrows but upon closer inspection it seems like the thicker eyebrow part of it is just shrunken and spread apart a bit more.

It’s not consistent from race to race, or even face to face. Mine got the opposite treatment. Keeper of the Moon Miqo, Face 4.



They’re “fuller” now and lost definition. They look really flat. I’m not happy with this change. I also really wish they would untie brow colour from hair colour. It’s a big problem for WoLs with light or coloured hair. (I also really wish they hadn’t given me huge fake looking lashes and smudgy eyeliner too :’< )

So with the announcement about the do we think that eyebrows are included in "Issues Related to Certain Data and Processes" or are they still going to be thinner and less noticeable after they fix the benchmark/character creator?

Sorry, I've never used forums myself before so I'm new but hopefully this works. Edit: Apparently I have and I'm a liar but I don't really remember the other one lol

Just wanted to join the sea of complaints/discussions because in my opinion, eyebrows have been a problem forever but they for some reason were made worse with the update. Hyurs have never had any real eyebrows for some reason and I always used the makeup eyebrow option to give a better effect... wasn't perfect but it satisfied me. But the overall shape is different now... and gives my characters a different look. Seeing that they plan to make changes in the benchmark I hope by posting this they fix it somehow... either by giving eyebrow options in general or fixing the make up back to how it sat on the face before. I don't know why they think everyone wants thin or non existent eyebrows. I like thicker eyebrows.

When I was going through the eyebrow options for this face I noticed all of them turn up at the end now. My boy’s eyebrows have always done that, I just chose them because of how sharp the angle is, but I never liked that flip. Can’t believe they added it to all of them.

Midlanders got the lighter brow treatment as well. Like most other races, they also got false lashes, which should be a toggleable option if anything. They honestly bug me more than the brows, mostly because of how fake and unnatural they look. 6.58 above, 7.0 below.

Summing all 3 pages so far for Square Enix:

1) Some people wish their eyebrows where thicker, some people wish they were thinner.
2) Some people wish their eyebrows had more color, some people wish they had less color.

I say, there should just be more eyebrow options to let us control thickness AND color.
For example, someone might want a blonde character with black eyebrows, but other might want a blonde character with yellow eyebrows.

Just give us the option to choose what we want.
