If You Could Change One Thing (Graphical Update)

The benchmark has certainly been interesting. I think the visual updates to the world are going to be fantastic. The character creator, however, is definitely triggering some strong opinions. If you could only change ONE thing, assuming that technical errors are going to be fixed (i.e. missing updated textures), what would be at the top of your list?

I understand that the Lalafell are supposed to look doll-like -- that's great! Intended! But I am extremely torn over the appearance of everyone's skin. Specifically, the intense shine. It looks like porcelain with a very strong, glossy enamel over top. If we could soften that, I think I would feel a lot better. When looking at a very pale character, it isn't as noticeable. On darker-skinned characters, though, especially when it's so solidly white a shine... Oof.

Lips. The currently quality in the benchmark is nothing short of embarrassing.

The one thing that I would adjust is to lighten up the eyes. A lot. The top half of them is currently so dark that in many cases it blends in with the eyelashes, creating a very half-lidded look that makes characters look a lot meaner and angrier than they should.

Removing the fixed catch-lights is an intriguing choice. Eyes are generally very moist, so when you don't have any kind of reflection (except at extreme angles, as is the current case in the CC), they look flat and dead. I'm curious if their general adjustments with reflections might have made the eyes TOO bright, so they nerfed them to avoid constant shoujo eyes (essentially mirroring my problem with the skin)? It's hard to say without being in the development 'room'. I do hope they can address it.

This too, for sure. Even in better lighting outside of the character creator, so much of the iris is lost to darkness, even with vibrantly colored eyes. If you have dark colored irises? Black voids. Even outside of CC.

God, the lips. they took the cupid's bow and removed any definition to separate the upper and lower lip, AND the lipstick options are still super muddy/dull in colour.

I have a loose theory regarding our color options that may help with the muddiness!

Have you fiddled with making a femme Hrothgar at all? The color palette for their base coloring has a massively improved range of tones and shades. If they implement that style of palette for everything???

That is a very exciting notion, indeed!

I just want my eyebrows and facial hair back: https://imgur.com/a/VYjvbSW

The skin doesn't look that bad to me in the actual benchmark. I wish we could just have our characters standing around in the actual game lighting instead of the character creation.

Facial hair is already so sparse in the game. I sincerely hope the same!

How dusty my character's skin looks. They said they'll let us have the old limbal ring brightness as an option so I'm holding out hope for that, because I don't like how dark and blended her eyes look now. But her skin looks covered in a layer of chalk dust and there's nothing that can fix it on my end.
