My LS was fighting CC a few times today.
First time: No problems. I could avoid all 100 tonze with EASE. Meaning I ran to my party, could actually turn my camera around in time to see the whole animation of Swing. Was beautiful.
Every other time: I see the indicator he's using a move. At the same moment my eyes glance at chatlog and see "Swing". I run to my party members. And die. I'm on them, and I didn't miss the indicator for Swing.
I wasn't really checking my latency during those fights, but generally I'm double digits sending and receiving. No one's moving weird. My abilities are about half a second off, but that's nothing new really.
Knowing I'm either having latency issues or the server is, I rely on Aegis Boon where I can. Except it doesn't help. I use Aegis Boon, see the whole animation go off, and I still get hit. It's almost comedic, except my linkshell isn't laughing. If I die, we're in deep trouble. I have 0 room for failure on Coincounter.
I know I can tank him. I've done it BEFORE. He isn't hard. But something stopped me today. Does anyone have any advice? I figured if I was having latency issues, I could rely on Boon. Well, that didn't turn out how I expected it would.
This might not happen again. It's just frustrating to know that no matter what steps I took to avoid a 1-hit KO, it didn't help. I wish I had a video of the fights. It was amazing how far away from CC I was and still got hit when no one else did. It was astounding to see my character throw up an Aegis boon when I didn't have the time to run, and I still got hit.
At the risk of sounding stupid, can Aegis boon block Swing? I'm pretty sure I did before, but obviously it didn't help today and I usually don't have problems avoiding Swing, so it's never usually mandatory. But I'm pretty sure I've used it before when I was in a pinch, and it worked just fine. Unless I'm going crazy. And I know I am after today.
So, any tips? I thank anyone for even getting through my rant. It makes me less frustrated to ask for help on forums, and I'm pretty frustrated right now. Makes me not want to tank anymore, even though I know I can handle the job.
And for reference, I've been tanking him on the wall. Does anybody prefer tanking him out in the open and avoiding his swipes and swings easier as opposed to running THROUGH him a further distance to avoid Swing?
Once again, thank you all.
