My male middie had it bad. Real bad >.> Here :cry:I'm really tired of hearing people say to adjust the lighting and gamma. I have. Many of us have. We've tried edits, angles, lights, settings, anything to make our characters look like themselves again, but nothing works. I made the settings the same and took identical screenshots in multiple lighting conditions in the current game and benchmark that are in the Au Ra changes thread to show that this is not a lighting issue. Changing the environment and and gamma setting doesn't do anything to fix the fundamental changes they made to my character's facial structure. Hyur players made it through relatively intact, judging by looking through all these threads. Many other races did not. Like these lips are just not even remotely close to each other.
I've been wretching and crying for ten minutes looking at the lips on the right. They are an affront to common decency, truth, freedom, and the American way.
The lips on the left could win the EGOT. My word, they are the most beautiful shape I have ever seen.
YES!! I picked FemRa face 3 lips 2 because I loved her lips so much! They're a huge charm point for me! I don't understand at all why they would so radically change the shape like this T-T
I wish more people understood this. I'm not expecting there to be a rollback (though I hope they do some work to address complaints), but "liking the new better and being made to go back to something you still liked before, if slightly less" and "liking the old better and being made to change to something you don't like at all" are not comparable.I'll be honest...I do still genuinely wonder why these things are weighed the same? I hate arguing about this sort of thing, because I know it never ends up well--but, if I'm allowed to be a little more blunt with my thoughts, I don't understand why people who prefer the new look should be given the same weight as those who prefer the old ones? I don't mean this dismissively, I say this because my reasoning is:
1. Nobody has gotten to actually play with the new looks yet.
2. People who prefer the new looks, I assume--hope?--made and currently play characters they enjoy the looks of.
This is of course, me thinking with the resolution them being fixing the features so that they're in line with what they look like now. Not like, reverting the graphics update...which I still honestly haven't seen many people actually call for.

Not a fan of the eye region change as well, eyebrows are too thin and shape changed.
Lost the overall sharpness of the eyes

I am kind of alright with the new face of my character, but extremely unhappy with how the hair has turned out. It looks very flat, colourless and lacks any kind of shine that the old one had, not to mention the hideous thready looking texture. It almost looks like it's bugged at this point in the benchmark as it fails to interact properly with lighting. We still got over two months to wait and I really hope this is all just a heavy WIP and things can still change. I literally made an account just to post this and I'm glad to see that people are voicing their concerns here.

First time posting on the forum, not much that haven't been said yet but I just want to share my experience. I posted my issues on the JP forum too.
Imagine my jumpscare when I opened the character creator and my grandpa got yassified and deaged!!!!!!
Thankfully it seems it's just a weird light effect, he looks a lot better under natural light, but the drastic difference makes me worry about how he will actually look ingame in different environments...
Definitely a lot of things need to be fixed (bad quality body scales, waxy skin, lifeless eyes, everything that has been mentioned by other users), and I'm sure that they will in time, but these issues shouldn't have happened in the first place. A change this big in the core models isn't something that can be adjusted with a Fantasia.
What I'm now worried about too, it's how some NPCs will look with this update. I quickly recreated Fourchenault to compare, and he looks so smooth and soft!!??
I can't imagine a smoothed Estinien or Nero lol
I don't know. I want to be optimistic, and I know I'll get used to it as I play, but I can't help but feel disappointed and very worried.

You know who I'm dreading this graphical update hitting? Zenos. He has that interesting adorable nose that I love so dearly. Please don't give my boy a nose job I love his stupid big nose and his blank lifeless deep blue eyes. It's funny how I'm worried more about him than my character ahahaha...Damn I wonder what they'd do to Emet Selch...or Varis. I can't imagine these people going soft and 'I've been moisturizing, my friend' or 'I've been moisturizing, hero'.
I'm laughing about it lmao
Honestly my biggest fear with Zenos, especially now that the benchmark is out and a lot of features have been sandblasted, is that they'll shrink his big nose. It and his soft, round, "hasn't slept in a week" face do a lot to make him stand out in the sea of violent prettyboy swordsmen, but at least his other facial features were always in his concept art. If they made his hair less spaghetti I wouldn't be as worried because that always looked more like a technical limitation, but the core details of his face I feel are in very real danger of being lost and I don't think he's the only one. Other slightly scrungled characters will likely have core features removed if they don't pivot direction now.You know who I'm dreading this graphical update hitting? Zenos.
