Character graphical changes are NOT in an acceptable state, please make it optional

Hello again :3 I would like to mention these changes once again. To be honest, after watching thousands of screenshots, I'm still surprised by people who defend and justify the type of character changes, saying that this is how it should be, and if you don't like something, then just use imagination or take screenshots in a certain light, because your characters look the same, lol. For these people, I have a question, how do I change my character so that she becomes back who she is (the screenshot will be below)

I get the impression that these people either play only msq and then go to play other games and projects, or they are a fan of fantasia and do not get attached to their character, or, saddest of all, they simply do not care what their character looks like! I have no other explanation.

For example, I try to play every day, even if I don't do anything, I just text with friends and strangers, and even if I don't have the desire to do that, then I just stand afk. It's not hard to imagine that during all this time I've become very attached to my character and like many others, this UGLINESS (there's no other way to call it) is just disappointing. Does it turn out that we pay money in order for them to take away our heroes from us, with whom we have gone through so many adventures together? (I don't mind giving money to the developers, I even have extra retiners as an additional payment and don't use them, because I love this game and its community and developers!)
Yes, it may sound naive enough, but I adore my character and after so many hours together I feel her as an extension of myself and, to be honest, I absolutely do not need your graphics improvements if they just change our lovers! Just give us the same characters in HD quality! Why do you come up with new lips, teeth, fangs, face animations, if everything looks great and works on any computers anyway (which is very important in fact and in my memory ff14 is the most stable mmorpg or even the most stable game in existence, it's no joke, I've been in the game the middle August and before the patch started in October, and all this time I was playing, chatting, crafting, standing afk, fishing, doing quests, even trying savage and just fooling around within the same session! I'm not kidding, I clicked log in in August and was in the same session before the new patch in October, what other project can boast of this? which once again confirms the stability of the game), sorry I got distracted :3




so, I think that people's criticism is justified and they have the right to declare it and I completely agree that it is unacceptable to change even 3 degrees of tilt of the smile of the mouth, not to mention quiet new animations or short fangs, I hope the developers will hear us, I am even ready to wait for dawntrail longer if necessary or ready to take our old textures and faces as an additional option, because, excuse me for these obscene words, but I don't want to go through msq for this freak, and if they don't change anything before the release and return our charmers to us, I think I'll just have to be at the AFK before they give us OUR characters back!

Probably not a good idea to strawman people who disagree. I played since 1.0/2.0 beta. Started as male dusk. I've changed every now and then, but I always go back to my OG character. I like the way the changes look for my character. To say "oh, well you must be a MSQ only or don't care about your character" is simply a poor take imo

sorry, I mean a little different, some of the people who only play in msq and they don't care what their characters look like, if I can be more precise. I have friends who only play msq on the same characters and they are wonderful people, it's just that English is not my native language and I can sometimes get confused because there are expressions and meanings that are not the same in my and English, please excuse me again :3 I want to convey the idea that probably many who write that these characters are the same do not really pay much attention to their own characters and tell us in each topic that this is the future and we just need to accept it. They do not pay attention because they have no attachment to their avatars -and I have given possible options, in my opinion, why this is so, yes, I may be absolutely wrong and I apologize if I turn out to be ignorant :3
I personally see how these changes have affected a lot of characters and I see and understand why they are upset, because their character has smaller lips or less expressive eyes, but those people I mean just say, "LOL this is the same character, if you don't like it, then just use a fanta"

The hell is that skin texture? Seem to only happen in Gridanian Inn. Not only one but there are more to be found when you play with the lighting angle. How does this manage to not get noticed in quality check?

Honestly, after sifting through many pictures of people showcasing what went wrong in the past 2 days, I'm getting too familiar vibe of those times when I had to discern between genuine work of art or AI generated ones. It's like, whoever's doing the quality check or making these design choices does not understand the point of feeling or characterization. I sure hope this is just my brain brewing up some pointless conspiracy & not what actually happened behind the scenes...

This is why I am confident they just run AI upscale on stuff and since there is too many combinations to review for sure humans had no time to do so

It's okay, I understand the AI feeling completely. If you've seen some of my comments on other threads, I've been dancing around saying similar conclusions outright. It feels like it should be too silly to say but also like such a real, unfortunate possibility these days. It makes it feel like the update is being done to please higher ups, rather than out of genuine love for the art. I dearly hope that we're both wrong in this case.

The character creator isn’t the final product. They have a disclaimer saying this stuff is still a work in progress. The build from the benchmark itself could be months old.

It hasn’t passed any checks yet because the game is still in development. It’s important to point these issues out, but I don’t think it’s fair to drag the devs for these issues when the product isn’t final. It's entirely possible they fixed this very issue weeks ago internally.

I agree with this as well, and I thank you for reminding people of this and bringing up this possibility. It's difficult for a lot, including myself, to view the situation in a more hopeful lens without things like this in the discussion. Although I don't think they were attempting to drag the developers.

It's clear from the way custom NPC faces are designed, as well as how carefully newer races have been designed to match the existing art style, that the art team cares greatly about this game. It's just that we have no precedent for an update like this, and having this level of mismatching quality given to us makes it hard not to worry these updates (so far) were done through different means.

Okay, off to work for me. I gotta make myself stop lookin' at the forums for real now.

Seeing post after post of people making blanket statements about the players who are ok with the change was starting to get to me, I admit. But I'm sure its going both ways. I hope CBU3 comes to a solution that makes as many people satisified as possible, including you

Right? 1.0 player as well. I couldn't quite get my 1.0 Lalafell to look like my FFXI Tarurutaru. I couldn't get my 2.0 version to look like the 1.0 version. And now I can't get the 7.0 version to look exactly like the 2.0 version. She's still got the same soul, and as long as she keeps her Legacy tattoo, that's all I really care about.

Or maybe some of us are just legitimately happy with the changes? I've been playing this game for over a decade, I love my character, and I love the graphical update.

I get why people are upset about some things, but stuff like this is why I sometimes wonder why I bother trying to remain fair...

I do not dispute that there are those who are satisfied with this, if you carefully read the forums, that is, those who have not been affected by the changes, or those who have become really more beautiful, let's be honest : 3 and there are those who did not win this lottery *, including me* I will now provide you with some screenshots of my character with whom I have 850 hours /playtime and it follows that I am incredibly attached to someone * yes, I do not play with ARR, which is actually a shame that I learned about this great game relatively recently*, and you will say that you would be happy with this Or not?
