From what I understand, there are going to be a bunch of new animations and expressions coming with Dawntrail. I would imagine the extra bones in the face are to make use of that, and the changes to some model's facial structures are meant to accomodate the new expressions that the old models would warp or distort when making.

What I'm worried about is our current facial expressions looking distorted though. I was pretty horrified when I tried out some emotes in the CC.

Like why does my girl have a joker smile now??? It used to look so genuine, now it looks kinda sarcastic. It's pinched up at the corners for some reason. How is this supposed to be better?

If I didn't know better, I would think those were two different facial expressions applied on the emote. I really get what you mean.
