Well, people are here to provide feedback and their opinions about the planned update, given that today was the first opportunity to see how our characters would look like with the possible update.

Which is why I explicitly encouraged everyone to do so in the original post.

And pretty sure their intention was to keep characters as similar as possible, which kinda goes against the idea of changing character shapes and overall feeling of them.

That is entirely subjective, and the reason they can't please everyone no matter what they do.

My point was leave feedback, but realize it's never going to be exactly your previous character or exactly what you want. At some point you're just going to have to deal with it, or in your case have a meltdown and quit apparently.

Some mentally fragile people will probably quit over this update as well. As I said, it's impossible to please everyone.

Mentally fragile? This is a product, not a charity. Why should they stay if they don't like it? And why would they be mentally fragile for quitting if this is a deal breaker for them?

The player character is the center of the story, which a lot of people play for. People quitting over the change are not mentally fragile, it's a normal reaction to stop paying subscription when you're not satisfied with a product, what is weird is someone acting like players voicing their issues and disliking how their characters look are being dramatic or unreasonable if they quit.

WoW did have a model toggle with the update but it was removed in Legion, the very next expansion.

Yeah, I quit the game and moved away from the WoW's awful graphical update.

Same I ended up quitting WoW and losing my cute tauren was 80% of it at the time.
(edit - 8 out of my 9 characters look really good for me in the update, including my main!! They are close. I just think a few combos are unfinished, hopefully)

I didn't quit WoW altogether but it was a huge impetus for me ending up race changing from belf to nightborne...they massacred my boy. Did end up quitting in bfa though. What a mess.

Yeah, I quit the game and moved away from the WoW's awful graphical update.

One is design created by passionate artists, another is corporate requirements driven "upgrade".

In a sense, FFXIV graphical update is similar.

Btw correct me if I am wrong, but weren't there plugins/mods that improved character models etc. already? If Square Enix will be slow to respond to feedback these might become even more widespread and there will be "revert to Endwalker designs" mods as well.

Yeah, I was there for this and some of the new models looked really rough at first. Rougher than FFXIV's new ones. There were numerous graphical glitches and some of them looked just plain bad and/or suffered from something we called "same-face syndrome" back then (different faces lost their unique "look" and all kind of looked the same with minor differences)

Haha yeah, I remember that. Orcs (which is what I played) had the "same face" issue as well until they did a pass to do different sculpts for each face. I think trolls had a problem with their tusks as well? I don't recall if those were actual mistakes or just something they hadn't gotten to yet when they first showed them off.

In any case, it's perfectly fine to bring up issues with the models and this is the time to do so. My comment was more directed at people who simply cannot accept anything that isn't exactly their current model down to the last pixel. There's always going to be some degree of change with an upgrade like this. I'm sure the devs will get them as close as they can and make tweaks over time but at some point they're going to be done and everyone will have to move on in whatever way they feel is appropriate.

I am fully understanding of people having issues with the update. I even agree with some of the issues being shown. But...I have seen a few issues posted that are so outside the ball park of reasonable. That the ball is in the parking lot having crashed through the windshield of a rolls royace. Lets try to keep the critism in the ball park.
