The Worst Patch Trailer in FF History?

Hi welcome to the thread glad you're here.

Obviously trailers are subjective blah blah etc, but this one felt remarkably flat and forced? When I look back even to the 6.2 trailer, there is storytelling performed through showing and not saying too much that draws me in and makes me legitimately engaged. Piques curiosity, leaves it vague enough. In this 7.3 trailer they're like...idk they basically told us the trailer, not showed. Like the sentiment feels super forced, and it makes sense why no one is invested in the characters nor cares about them.

As always, curious to hear others' thoughts

it lacked the epic kind of music and more cool sceenes, instead of just some blabla and generic battle poses

Yes, absolutely, compared to other patch trailers this one feels like they didn't even try

I had the bar pretty low since endwalker, but this time even I got dissapointed

I don't really have much comparison to go on, as I usually don't watch trailers at all, but I just checked this one out and it seemed fine to me. My biggest gripe with trailers is when they reveal too much and you effectively end up watching the movie by seeing the trailer - this one gave a nice taste of the different places and people that will be featured, which is exactly what I like trailers to do. Nothing felt "forced" to me, and it makes sense to me why plenty of people (just not the usual echo chamber here on the forum) are still having a blast.

It was pretty muted. I feel like the great heights of the 5.1-5.3 patch content will never be reached again, sadly.

Its the same as always. Ever since their trailer format started revealing everything and not leaving anything to surprise.

I thought the 5.x series trailers were far and above the best ones for certain. They showed so much and told so much about what to expect, but didn't spoil the story or basically show the entirety of all 3 pieces of content we're getting. I think the 5.3 trailer is remarkable in how bland and non-hype it is, and then you play 5.3 and it's the greatest story patch in MMO history, and they didn't warn you about any of what was to come in the actual trailer itself. I don't think we've gotten "used" to the "magic" or desensitized to the game, I think the dev team has lost their magic and their passion. Maybe it was stripped from them when their studio was ripped apart. It's a shame.

In my opinion trailers are always like that. It showed off things people might be excited for, such as the map, Hildibrand, the FF11 alliance raid, the CC map, the new society quests, and some of the MSQ. They always do that so it depends if you're into any of those things. I am personally interested in the society quest.

I think the story they told through the trailer was pretty normal for what they do with trailers. Obviously, a lot of people won't be into it because it's Wuk Lamat and Cyberpunk, but to me it looks like how trailers normally are. I don't find most patch trailers that greater really. Usually just the expansion ones are good.

I believe Yoshi-P did mention during the LL that the trailer was a bit more vanilla this time because showing anymore than that would be spoilers. They've gotten heat for that before, like people were mad at the end of the Shadowbringers trailer with Emet mentioning what Hydaelyn and Zodiark were. Though that ended up not being the biggest reveal in that expansion.

Watching this trailer I can kind of seeing where their editor was fighting for their life not to show certain things.
