I was low-key hoping Yoshi P would surprise us by sneaking some lovely highlander supercilia into the updated benchmark...
Oh well, Highlander brothers, the Roegadyn people will be your salvation!

I don't think the position has been fixed. At the very least it's still not at the same placement as it is in Endwalker.I'm glad to report that the clipping issues I posted on page 3 of this thread have been fixed. I thought they would go unnoticed, but they sorted it. Cheers devs.
The eyebrow facepaint has also been put back to its old position, so it's not sitting 10 feet higher than it's supposed to. It still hasn't been up-res'd but I personally find it hard to notice unless I stick the camera right up in the characters face.
Left is Endwalker, Right is Dawntrail. There are a lot of things about the "upgrade" I'm unhappy with, but let's focus on the Face Paint Eyebrows. The placement of these markings is positioned significantly higher on the brow than it was pre-Dawntrail. This makes the character look more "surprised" all the time rather than more serious.
Additionally, even with the darkest color (black) selected, the shade appears lighter or less vibrant than it currently is pre-Dawntrail. This makes it difficult to pass these markings off as eyebrows, as the lighter they appear the more fake they look.
I just want to point out that your Face 2 image (I haven't checked the other) isn't aligned correctly. I've added red lines to show you.
Once you move the 1.1 head so that the bottom of the chin, bottom of the nose, and bottom of the eye aligns with the EW image, then the eyebrow facepaint on the 1.1 image is going to shift quite a bit higher and pass through that black line. So the eyebrow facepaint in Dawntrail is still quite a bit higher than it is in Endwalker.

Yeah I've played around with it for a bit, and I think I can get by with the face paint eyebrows. At least they fixed the placement, but I feel like the paint and scars don't blend well with the new face textures because they still look the same as the current version.

hey. guess who get eyebrows this dawntrail patch?
(hint: it is not us)
I think the lore answer is that they actually dont have eyebrows because the hot sunny climate or something.
Which doesnt make sense because that climate actually produces heavier eyebrows and hair as skin and eye protection from the sun. The wiry and often curly kind genetically, as curly hair can cover more surface area without retaining more body heat, and carry more oils which protect your skin from drying out.
Yes, cold climates produce more body hair too genetically obviously for warmth reasons. The curly hair type tends to be a wavy type that can poof up and retain heat better.
Midlanders are the ones who have a subtropical implication and that is the climate where humans develop the least body hair genetically.
But not having eyebrows doesnt exactly make for a fantasy feel like elf pointy ears and tall frame.
Youre just... a guy with no eyebrows.

The lore is that all Eorzean highlanders come from the same group of people that followed a culture of scarification, shaving eyebrows, removal/sharpening of some teeth, tattoo's. The problem is, these are all optional parts of the culture in the lore, which is why there are some highlander NPC's with eyebrows. So it's just a lazy hang on. Their biggest priority will be putting out an apology for how bad this expac is, in about a months time when the sub counts come in low. Between wuk lamat, the meh graphics update, and the complete and utter botching of almost every job, by late august they are going to get murdered by the wow expac, and based on how bad things are in the state of the gameplay and story in DT I think they will struggle to get any of the players back. Which does mean they will try and win people back with low hanging fruit so simple cosmetic things like this might get picked up then.I think the lore answer is that they actually dont have eyebrows because the hot sunny climate or something.

Am I crazy or is the Viper job quest NPC a Highlander Male WITH eyebrows?
