After looking at the pics a little more closely. I feel her looking more alive is only because her upper eyelid is not really visible in the live game. That alone makes a surprising difference. Running the Benchmark, Arna didn't look dead to me at all and was very nice-looking. Obviously there is a difference between characters idling and actually expressing themselves but still.

I really feel for at least Arna that it's a straight upgrade across the board. I definitely understand people not feeling that way about their characters though. Yeah, pretty much. I feel after they update the Benchmark that might be a turning point for a lot of people.

Despite generally agreeing with you. To be fair to Lucia I don't feel like they were attacking or unfairly judging Arna. I feel they were just expressing their opinion.

Drawntrail Benchmark Feedback - Male Viera Face Types

Hello! I'm here to offer a bit of feedback on the state of male Viera faces in the benchmark. My biggest issue is that only face type 2 has a halfway decent smile. While you could say the smile is more of a smirk, I would prefer to have a genuine smile when emoting happiness.

From skimming the previous posts, a common theme seems to be centered around the lips. I agree with this observation.

    Face Type 1

    Face Type 2

    Face Type 3

    Face Type 4

    Character creation settings used:
    - Height: 63
    - Face: #1, #2, #3 or #4
    - Skin Color: RGB 198, 148, 126
    - Hairstyle: #13
    - Hair Color: RGB 78, 43, 15
    - Hair Color (Highlights): RGB 78, 34, 13
    - Jaw: #1
    - Eye Shape: #3
    - Iris Size: Small
    - Eye Color: RGB 130, 147, 184
    - Eyebrows: #2
    - Nose: #1
    - Mouth: #3
    - Lip Color: Light & RGB 207, 134, 127
    - Ear Shape: #1
    - Ear Length: 66
    - Facial Features: #1 (eyebrows thicker)
    - Tattoos: None
    - Tattoo Color: RGB 227, 189, 172 (If I could use the feather face tattoo for all face types, I would. But that's only on face type 1)
    - Face Paint: None
    - Face Paint Color: RGB 190, 115, 146
    - Voice: #6

Are these settings in the Nvidia control panel under the 3D area? I've been scared to play with those. Do you have any recommendations?

I think they used “smirk” there, not a happy smile. It looks disturbing/menacing on lots of characters. Hence Zenos possession jokes.

Definitely looks worse than the current /smirk, though, in a way that feels like some kind of subtle rigging error because the problem isn't one I notice in expressionless faces.

E: looking again, it might be a result of an issue I have with the expressionless faces, actually: that baked-in overly bright/thick upper lip highlight is, I think, making the illusion of excessive pushing out of the lips when emoting.

OP's comparison is brutal. It's like all contouring and shading went out of the window and her lips and eyes entirely changed, wow.

It is a thread discussing the differences. I actually didn't say anything negative about her character. It looks good. I was more noticing the differences. I think dark.skinned characters look alot better in alot of the pictures. I actually prefer the way her lips look in the new benchmark and that is literally the first time I can say it. I have the same face and I absolutely hate what the benchmark did to my character.

Thanks for understanding. I think it is the "dull" comment, but (english is not my first language) for me "dull" just means less colourful, which I think like literally everyone has agreed on that most characters lost some of the colour. I think your character is one of the "winners" overall, even if I am not a fan of the thick eyeliner we all seem to have now and the loss of cupids bow for us. When playing around with eyeshadow in the benchmark is seems to have somewhat disappeared? Idk if you noticed that as well?

I use the NVIDIA App with the overlay and game filters enabled. A nice feature about the NVIDIA App is that you don't need to sign in.

Here are the filters I use (the order in the list does matter).

    Color:
    Tint Color 41 %
    Tint Intensity 8%
    Temperature 2
    Vibrance 24

    Sharpen:
    Sharpen 30%
    Ignore Film Grain 30%

    Brightness / Contrast:
    Exposure -20%
    Contrast 20%
    Highlights 100%
    Shadows 34%
    Gamma 34%

    Details:
    Sharpen 0%
    Clarity 70%
    HDR Toning 60%
    Bloom 10%

A second part of my setup is that I use DSR.

And lastly, I have the game gamma correction set to zero and character lighting at 40.
