F3 male viera looks so bad that I'm genuinely hoping it's being distorted by a bug somehow...



I have to wonder why there's such a huge disparity for some characters but very little for others, especially the weird alpha mapping and some ear/color combos making the interiors glow. I know I posted my character in the benchmark before, but I'll post a comparison. The eyes being duller without direct lighting is the only issue I don't have to look very hard to notice.

I've noticed this as well. It's very odd. Like even on the same faces I've seen some characters come out pretty similar while others are completely botched. And i've seen so many complaints about not having highlights in the eyes, and like every character i've created has had some pretty freakin' sparkly eyes.I have to wonder why there's such a huge disparity for some characters but very little for others, especially the weird alpha mapping and some ear/color combos making the interiors glow. It's weird it's like the character illumination for some people is set to 100 which as far as I could see, there is no option for in the benchmark! I thought it might also be down to base skin tone but I've now seen 2 other examples of other people's characters coming thru relatively unscathed [ Daralii and Sintea] with wildly different skintones to my chara so it's not that either! I feel so bad because I can absolutely see a lot of the problems people are having - other details and things are subjective but there definitely IS something odd going on with how the lighting is interacting with skin colour.

I'm another saddened by the changes to Viera, and as a face 3 femviera I feel like their softer/curious looking features were sort of taken away and adjusted and now they look a little more dead eyed/serious looking which makes me sad.
I can definitely see it in the eyes/lips which are more downturned now and filled strangely. I sort of wish that we were able to adjust shine/gloss levels of the lips.
I do like the skin texture and the hair texture overall, they look glossy and skin like and I do appreciate the upscale of the texture of the clothes! But some things just need to be fixed![]()

While I am mostly excited to see the game in 7.0, I unfortunately also must add that there are a few changes/updates I am less excited about that I hope can be reconsidered.
Here is a comparison I made of my male Viera with Face 3 and the changes between the old and new graphics that I think needs changing:
- the eyebrows are much thinner, so thin they almost appear plucked
- the shadow of the eyelids is much less prominent which unfortunately makes the eyes appear to be staring in an unsettling way
- the lips have lost some definition and appear almost too straight and small
- lip color is much stronger now and very sharp compared to before
I appreciate all the hard work the developers put into making this an enjoyable game and I hope that the player's wishes are taken into consideration!

I'm really bummed about the changes. I really hope they fix them because looking at this side-by-side is giving me a headache.![]()

It bugs me that the eye tattoo is now also faded and less defined/sharp, even though it is a lesser of other issues

Sharing my character in all environments to show the difference the lighting makes. The update improves shadows and lighting in some environments but it's definitely lacking in others.

The Inn and La Noscea environments actually showcase beautiful new renderings--the lips definition is still there, I'm overall very happy except for the pupil size change!
The Aetherial Sea, Thanalan and Shroud environments show an entirely different character, imo. The lips lose definitely, the facial structure is flattened and the eyes look dull and harsh at the same time.
Makes me wonder if this is just a lighting issue? That said, I really do hope the devs see the feedback about Veena pupil size and fix this because I adore my original characters eyes! They really define her whole face and the new eyes give her a whole different vibe somehow.
Very interesting to see how drastically the lighting changes the whole look and feel of the face, especially when you can see in the original (current) graphics that facial structure isn't affected as much.

Well, my dark skinned viera is BLUE in new "La noscea" background lighting
I hope lighting in benchmark CC is bugged and dont represent real lighting DT will use in all La noscea areas.
