I absolutely agree and I feel the same about my own character. Yes, he's still recognizable but the quality of the textures and everything looks like a downgrade. In the actual Benchmark it's not quite as bad as in the character creator but still not good either.
My two cents into a very well documented issue
Benchmark CC:
Current in-game CC:
Benchmark Test (2K, Maximum):
Ingame Gpose (2K Maximum):
Now clearly the lightning is better in the Benchmark, incredibly better, but my boy just feels so...round and smooth? Like not even the textures (that's a different topic I am not at all smart enough to talk about) but he's lost his jaw and neck and there's no shadows or anything
Eyebrows are noticably thinner and lighter despite being the pure black hair
The splotches on his hair (shows up more in the Gridanian Inn image) which didn't exist in current build
Lips are much more cartoon-y feeling
Eyelashes are much thinner or less noticeable
The eyeliner "tattoo" looks a lot less clean compared to the current model
The nose/jaw changes are bad, you can see it just straight up isn't the same nose or jaw models anymore
The beauty mark issue is already well talked about but it's really shows the lack of attention to detail Viera seem to have gotten as the "newest" non-DT models
I'm hopeful in CBU3 making some adjustments/fixes by release, but I'm just a little disappointed in my boy being changed so much even if it's a WIP! I really love Male Viera and I don't want to have to remake or redesign him!
IMO She looks better in benchmark. Or at least something a a change of nose and jaw can't fix.
This is a 1:1 character Data comparison btw.

Adding F viera face 2 lips to the list. My character looks mostly fine in the actual trailer, but the lips being a weird low-res looking rounded shape is distracting. Also the light grey shading between the lips in the 7.0 version is hopefully something that won't make it into the actual game..
Additionally, the eyes are just too different now. In the new version the upper eyelid is not visible at all from under all the black makeup and the lashes look super thick for no reason. The harsh shading under the eyelashes also makes them appear even thicker and takes even more light out of the already dead-looking eyes.

Adding on to this as another unhappy viera. I was so happy in ENW to be able to play a masc bun and escape the mandatory viera lipstick, but their design has been stable since shb - warmish grey skintone, desaturated blues and greens elsewhere. Now their skin is green in all but very cool light.

I've managed to "fix" them slightly in the benchmark by making a veena clone, but that makes them much paler than they are right now.
Also, shoutout to the } lips getting turned into :|
I actually don't hate a lot of the new textures too badly, but the overhaul doesn't feel like it's quite ready to go yet. As another thread mentioned, light (and translucency) is all screwed up too.
How does it look in the actual DT benchmark? The lighting in the CC zones is pretty awful and casts a yellow light.Adding on to this as another unhappy viera. Why would you compare in the benchmark? Character creator -> Character creator is the only way to get an apples to apples comparison of the changes.
You wouldn't compare 1:1, but you would get a feeling of how it acts in proper light. And not the broken yellow lighting in the CC that even live XIV doesn't have in those zones.
It isn't an apples to apples comparison to begin with because the lighting isn't the same, even if the CC zones in which they're being previewed are the same.
"green in all but very cool light". It's the same. Limsa-backdrop CC is where it's the most visible, but it's pretty much across the board unless the lighting is cool-tinted, including in the benchmark trailer. In the few daylit-lighting settings where they're not green, they lose a lot of the desaturation and grey undertone and become very tan, so even when the lighting is neutral rather than warmish, it's simply not the same skintone.
Anyway comparing CC to CC also allows for a fairer side-by-side, since it's the same pose and time of day, which is why I chose to do that instead of comparing live gameplay shots to benchmark cutscene shots given that the issue is omnipresent anyway. The only escape is to switch subraces, which comes with its own set of issues.
