It's not the worst but I'm not a fan.
I don't like the way they made his eyebrows and nose thinner. There's no options for thicker eyebrows either, this is as thick as they get. I'm honestly not a fan of the change in lip shape either, especially the thinning of the philtrum.
I didn't think they would change our characters features
Im on the same boat as a hyur midlander, completely different face for me as well. I ended up having to change skin tone, hair color, eye color... features... to make mine look decent.
I tried to pose her similar to benchmark screenshot (and failed lol).
Look not quite the same..?

Genuinely horrific. If they AT LEAST. AT LEAST fix the eyebrows being so sparse comparatively then I will find a way to live with it, but in general, it is unforgivable what they did to male viera.
Over all, I'm not too upset with the changes—I'm actually rather happy. My character still looks like herself for the most part. I'm happy the skin no longer looks plastic on fair tones, some darker tones are weird though (the scales have unfinished edges that show if you have dark skin and also look flat). There are a few things that feel off to me, but with time I may get use to them.
The limbal rings color is darker now, so they no longer 'blend' well to me (this could be because of lighting. The current chara creator has harsh bright lighting, while the benchmark shows new dulled/ realistic lighting). The pupils are also larger for some reason, and that's probably what bothers me the most. I would prefer if they stayed small. I also prefer the old shine to the new one.
The lips are softer and no longer have a shine to them. It doesn't look too bad with the color and shape I use, but her faint smile is no longer there. At least it isn't like some of the Viera lips that are so rounded out they look like they had gotten bad lip injections...
TLDR: The larger pupils are the most erroneous thing here for me, along with the lash line being changed from pointed to droopy. For me, that changes her face the most. The other thing is the skin in bright lighting looks off and too transparent (when viewed in the benchmark cutscene). Scales still look flat and pasted on.

May the stars light thy way.
I'm not allowed to share graphic images on the forums.
New version looks attrocious.
Not happy.
/edit
With matched gamma, still not happy.

Just to bring my thoughts into this. For my 2 main characters, I think they turned out fine:
Male Midlander:

Female Aura:
https://imgsli.com/MjU1NTYx
I purposefully kept the lighting and camera position consistent between the 2 images to better compare, exact pose is a bit harder (ie. i didn't try too hard on that front), (if anyone wants me to upload them as separate images, let me know). However, I think they turned out better in both cases.
I do agree though, some do look a bit off and not quite right. Some of the racial features being less prominent is also a cause for concern.
She looks like a completely different character to me...
I can't get images to cooperate rn, so no pictures, sorry!
While I am overall fine with how my lad looks with the graphics update based on images and video my friend very kindly sent me, when watching the benchmark it struck me that the eyes seem to lack a reflective shine. This makes everyone, but especially WoL, look "dead-eyed." I've seen other people talking about this as well.
I personally feel that the shadows in the eyes are too dark but the change that is devastating for me is that Fyllo's hairstyle has been stripped of his dark tipped ears. It's one of my favorite features and it cannot be fixed with a fantasia.
I wish the ear markings were a 'facial feature' instead of being tied to hairstyles.
I don't understand why all the other dark tipped ear hairstyles ported over fine but this one got washed out.
Please Yoshi P. Give my baby his dark tipped ears back!
