There isn't a problem with too many AoEs. There is a problem with some jobs having separate AoE versions of all their single target actions when it would have been sufficient to add splash damage to existing single target actions or focus damage to existing AoE actions (e.g., SAM, DNC, RPR, SMN).
SAM just has too many buttons because of all the duplication, and combining some of the action pairs would remove bloat and make transitions between max level and syncked play much smoother. Reaper is the middlest of the group and doesn't suffer too terribly for its minor bloat. Dancer and SMN are both incredibly simple jobs that coould really use some more interesting actions, which combining some of their pairs would make room for.

This is facts. People should keep this in mind for the inevitable sea of whining follows the job trailer.
as long as its not a new button that creats bloat idc
There were complaints from Samurai players Endwalker changes made to AOE gameplay.
- Tenka Goken Tab Target requirement removed
- Tenka Goken turned from Cone to Circle
- Tenka Goken damage not adjusted for Kaiten removal
Tab target removal is good? but this meant that you now don't need to Aim your main AOE skill, nor empower it and in place of empowering it with Kaiten? we spam Kyuten like we do Shinten in single target. Auto-Crit implementations was applied to all skills we used to empower Kaiten with to balance the missing damage out... Except to our AOE Tenka Goken, making it feel quite terrible.
AOE-ing on Samurai was never difficult, but players did enjoy it in Fate Farming / Eureka / Bozja. If you did enjoy Samurai AOE gameplay? Endwalker made it feel weightless, what was easy more easier, more effortless, mindless... it killed the satisfaction out it. So players liker Raiders only obsess about the damage optimization part of it? because all there's left to enjoy is functionality like how a Circle is more functional then a Cone there for better.
Yet we see the BenchMark Trailer where Square is bringing back a portion of Tenka Goken's old Animation i.e its a Cone so they removed features so they can rehash it into- like whatever! just whatever. Whatever they are doing? don't bring your hopes to much be it Samurai be it Healer be it whatever just don't set your expectations to high...
PS: All of this is largely unrelated to Button Bloat as there are other solutions for that regarding Samurai.

The only problem with skill changes being full of AOE is that it only has a use in dungeon's because they refuse to bring back cleave content in raids or even normal trials/alliance raids
What’s the point in getting a flashy new skill when the only thing you use it in is content that already puts you to sleep
SAM specifically is also running into problems of button bloat caused specifically by the fact they won’t give single target skills falloff and keep making two skills that share a CD but one if for AOE and one is for single target
Yeah, this never made sense to me. If you complain about everything in an AoE you may tag more targets but you dont make meaningful progress and your arguments are too weak. Thats why i single-target complain. One issue at a time, burn it down, then move on. Its the best way to complain.
I will complain. The very last thing I wanted was more Thunder on BLM. Especially an AOE one.
