Recommended gear low lvl tanks and melees

Example :

Qarn Chainmail
"GLA MRD LNC PLD WAR DRG DRK GNB RPR" (so PLD, GNB, WAR, DRK, DRG, RPR)

Qarn Jackcoat
"Disciple of War" (so, as I'd like, what's left : NIN, MNK, SAM, BRD, DNC, MCH)


As tank and DRG, when I go to Recommended gear, it puts the Qarn Jackcoat instead of the Qarn Chainmail.

I'd like the game to put the Qarn Chainmail instead of the Qarn Jackcoat, since it's made for these jobs specifically. It makes items like the Qarn Chainmail totally useless loot (only GC seals value).
It's a bit annoying to have to go back to armoury chest and re equipe some items after using the Recommended gear button.



That's an example using Qarn items, it's the case for many <lvl.50 items.
It it the exact same case for Healers and Casters. "Disciple of Magic"

The solution would be to delete "Disciple of War" and replace it with "ROG, NIN, PGL, MNK, SAM, ARC, BRD, DNC, MCH" and "GLA MRD LNC PLD WAR DRG DRK GNB RPR"
Delete "Disciple of Magic" and replace it with "SCH, CNJ, WHM, AST" and "ACN, SMN, THM, BLM" from lvl.1
First quests that used to give 2 items would give 4 instead, with a highlight on the item that fits the job you're currently playing, OR a gear chest

Currently, and since some time, low-level tank gear is no better for tanks than the same level DoW gear. So the recommendation isn't wrong, based on the stats of the gear.
I think it happened with big stat-squish some patches ago, when they of course had to adjust stats of all gear also.

While it is a bit annoying that the low-level tank gear is largely redundant, this is not a serious problem as such - the recommended DoW gear is just as good for the character.


Worse is a related problem with gear recommendation. The recommended gear function appears to primarily work off the main stat of the class/job of the character. So a Rogue will get recommended the available piece of gear with the most Dex that they can wear, and an Arcanist the piece of gear with the most Int, and so on.
Mostly this works fine, except for low-level (< lvl 50) tanks. Main stat of Tanks is Vitality, so the recommendation algorithm will recommend the gear piece with the most Vit. Which may be a DoM piece with none of the other stats a Tank have use for.

This would "solve" a minor problem by creating a much bigger problem: invalidating existing gear sets and glams.

I'd believe that. Looking at the Chainmail vs. Jackcoat, it used to be the case that the Chainmail had higher defense values, which I think means it would have come out on top in the recommendations.
