Scale mechanic gets skipped in Aglaia…

Hello, thanks always for the wonderful gaming experience!

I’ve just done Aglaia for the first time, and I learned afterwards that this scale mechanic was skipped in the final boss and it often happens nowadays, but apparently this is the coolest part of the entire battle. I really don’t wanna say this, but Aglaia didn’t feel as thrilling as the Nier raid is, and I feel it might be due to the skipping of the scale? Would it be too much to ask to include that part every time? I wouldn’t really want to find 23 people for a minimum level experience on PF…

Thank you for your tireless work!!! I love the game! <3

Aglaia has just been disgustingly ilvl scaled

It always tends to happen to the first alliance raid of the expansion, myths was just scales too low even at the correct ilvl, nier meanwhile mostly escapes this problem because the boss HP was overtuned when it first launched

Surprisingly enough I saw it a couple times last week. You will skip it more often than not, but there are times you still get to see it. They really need to readjust this raid tho or make the scales triggered at a certain percentage of his health instead. This would have been great as one of those giant 50% health attacks.

The entire raid series is really a huge let down tho in both difficulty and story.

I am afraid you have been misinformed. The tipping scales mechanic isn't very cool at all, and it doesn't make the raid any more thrilling than without it.

It does not matter if the mechanic is thrilling or adds anything cool or meaningful to the fight. The problem here is that it is a visual highlight of the raid serving as the finale of one of the most aesthetically pleasing bosses with one of the best themes in the game.

For very similar reasons we had item level cap introduced to the 6.0 final trial to ensure the story finale doesn't feel cut short and the NPCs get to say their whole thing. Likewise, skipping the scales mechanic means newcomers will not be able to see the final cutscene of Nald and Thal splitting into two entities for that mechanic - a highlight of the 6.1 trailer.

Visual thrill matters, otherwise we could just be fighting grey cubes with cast bars and that would be okay for us, no?

    Music is great though!

I'd argue that the way they clone two players, and turn those clones into 'giants', is more interesting.

If they're not going to fix IL then I think the scales mechanic needs to get brought earlier in the fight. The two preceding battle segments ("Thal's balls" and Nald's knockback game) each take a long time, and I think they could be done by randomly picking one or the other instead of doing both every time.

It would be a good idea for them to get over the fear of HP-based phasing that they developed after Heavensward and use it to make sure key mechanics always go off. That would still allow them to tutorialize for underperforming or undergeared groups while making sure that high-performing groups can't just skip most of the fight.

They need to stop making the entire fight a tutorial then only randomising mechanics if your group is bad enough to need 3 healer LB3’a

Even nier and ivalice do this

Why is the first combo of line AOE’s from mustadio’s robots always exactly the same, why does ultima’s first grand cross always leave one half of the bosses hitbox free, why do you only ever get final puppet’s boss messy phase well after she has done all the same mechanics when 99% of groups have already killed her

Myths made this even worse by making them have so little HP that they are dead before they are finished tutorialising (heaven help if you see second euldimon eozera) but all alliance raids suffer from this

What’s wrong with the bosses having a grab bag of mechanics and actually throwing them out randomly; defined phase changes like hashbrown’s tower or ultima’s clusterf**** phase can still happen at HP values but the rest of the fight doesn’t need to be so scripted

I really do wish encounters were designed like that, across the board. Their replay value goes down substantially when its the exact same song and dance every single time.
