Please allow players to buy a copy of Dawntrail for friends

It seems like a no-brainer that SE should allow existing players to order/buy and extra copy of Dawntrail for friends. But currently there is no way to do it on SE's website. We have to use PayPal or Venmo or other cash apps to send money to a friend so that they could order a copy of DT themselvers. Why wouldn't SE implement this???

If I recall, the instant you own any expansion after Stormblood you have to pay a monthly fee. So if you gifted a free trial player the latest expansion, that could be undesirable for some people.

You can sort of already do this, at least for pc players (and I think xbox too).
If you buy the expansion on the Square Enix store you get a preorder code that you could just send to your friend. Later on release you will get the actual game code that you will need to send to your friend too.
On Steam or Xbox you should be able to buy the game as a gift directly from the store.

On playstation i don't think it's possible because as far as I know sony never implemented a gift feature and there are no codes to redeem on consoles

Just tried to do this for my friend, and I can confirm the website tells you you can't buy it and tells you to remove the game from your cart if you already have a registered copy on your account, which is completely bonkers and did not used to be like this.

I have had two service accounts under my main email and square enix account for the past 10 years since 2 people in my family play the game. I've never been stopped from purchasing 2 copies of each expansion before, yet here we are. It's very inconvenient.

I was able to purchase a preorder for my friend less than half an hour ago, after having preordered it for myself the day sales went up. There was nothing there to stop me from doing so, the charge went through and I was sent a code that I then gave to my friend. Perhaps it was a temporary issue?

I also bought a preorder for my niece this afternoon even though I already have my own. And it even asks how many copies you want, you can literally put 5 copies in your cart. Why would you be able to do that if you were locked to 1?

Having the same issue. I bought a copy for myself, and then went to buy for my daughter, now it won't let me but a second copy.

The DE store currently allows for a maximum of 2 per order(/email address). But I do know that it allowed only one total per email address till May.
