It's optional. You don't like, you don't buy. Where is this £300 emote though, can't see that on the store. I bought the statue and it looks amazing, it's massive too.

Are you a shareholder for SE or something?
SE are relying upon suckers to make them more profitable.
Their online store has some of the most ridiculous pricing I've ever seen in my life.
You need to get out more, then: a limited edition Hermes “So Black” handbag made of matte niloticus crocodile 30 with PVD hardware fetched over $200,000 at auction in 2019.
And SE doesn't even hold a candle to some other online games: https://gamerant.com/most-expensive-...ems-ever-sold/ has a list of expensive MMO items sold for real money, like a $2500 spaceship in Star Citizen, a $61,000 rifle skin for Counter-Strike: Global Offiensive, and a asteroid in Entropia Universe that a player bought for $10,000 and later sold to another player for $635,000.
Some people just have way more money than they need.
Just give up bro. Gamers are a lost cause. Even when you boycott a trashy cashgrab, they'll buy 4 copies for every 1 you boycott. MMO fans are some of the most whipped of the bunch. FF14 commits so many sins that other MMOs get lambasted for, but they aren't outright farting in our faces like pearl abyss or activision so people are like "w-we eatin' good!"
It's terrible. Just enjoy what you like and try to block out the sound of the entire genre melting around you from bad decision enabling going back decades. The defense force isn't needed; the battle was probably already decided back when maplestory took off in the west and showed the industry that a f2p monetization method can work. Hell, the battle arguably was lost when WoW started selling mounts. It's been dead for a while. A walking corpse on fire, reeking of waste.
