Because if they're buying them at gil cap, they need to take basic math classes again and congrats to the seller who found a real sucker.

Yes, depending on plot. LB 41, for example, goes for gil cap (potentially higher on a server like Balmung).

You'll also find mansions such as Shiro 60 and Mist 2 going for close to or at gil cap w/ submarines.

I've seen the ads get sold as well.

This isn't anything uncommon either, this is just the value to the housing black market community and people pay it. I personally wouldn't but that's been the norm for at least a couple years now.

It's in SE's interests to keep players fighting against each other regarding the housing issue. Maybe once in a while throw players a bone in the form of additional wards/servers/housing mirage etc

Since a proper fix at the fundamental level - Keep the existing wards housing while implementing a proper fully instanced housing system would be expensive for SE both money and time wise.

Submarines can farm something called salvaged accessories .

You sell these salvaged items to the NPCs for raw gil.

The submarine discord calls it Fight Club as a meme name based on the movie:

Man this thread is wild. I was about to salt my food until I looked in here. Realized there's enough salty tears that I'm good on seasoning. I have never seen so much "whaa whaa where's my passive gil and me me me", garbage. Jesus Christ people get a life. I cannot begin to understand how subshacks live so rent free in your minds. Truly a sight to behold. The amount of entitlement you take over how others play is truly mind numbing. If you can't make gil, that's a YOU problem. If you aren't running subs, that's a YOU problem. The housing system as flawed as it may be allows players to own all these plots. Maybe, just maybe and I know this is a radical thought here cause some of you can't fathom it. I always love coming in late and reading the replies. Seeing who has a good understanding of the underlying realities of housing, subs, and the market. And who clearly hasn't done their research and is flying off the cuff of their feelings on the matter.

These "nerf subs" threads are always full of people who just want to keep printing money, so they concern troll about le communal fcs like these are even a major force anymore, just stop. The best part is they shamelessly post these threads on the sub discord, I know because I see it all happen in real-time, they don't post the actual link but they do post screenshots of posts and direct people to the location of the thread, of fucking course they are extremely biased in their posts, they don't arrive here organically and they do not care how much it hurts housing as long as it lines their pockets. The only way their investment dries up is if SE changes something, so challenging all comments that support change is necessary to continue their lucre gains.

You are right about that last part, I think I would've dropped this a long time ago if they just came out saying "yup, we just want the cash with whatever means necessary bye".
