Game doesn't support PS5 controllers anymore??

Platform: PC
controls: PS5 controller
Issue: 2 PS5 controllers that work for any other game just fine acts super wonky and won't calibrate in FFXIV. Playing too long causes controller to vibrate nonstop with random breaks before more constant vibration
Checked: Steam is off and closed, controllers works fine on PS5 and on other PC games, checked calibrations in PC anyways, restarted game & PC, disconnect/reconnect controller
Temporary solution: only connects through third party controller app called DS4Windows that tricks the PC to thinking it is a 360 controller but the game eventually disconnects by switching to the 'wireless controller'(aka PS5 controller) making playing a dungeon or trial risky due to pausing and switching Devices through settings

Explanation:
I've been playing FFXIV for a long time and I've been using my PS5 controller for what I feel has been over a year now. It's never had a problem and has been the best controller since I've transferred from PS4 to PC. I eventually got a PS5 a few months ago but had this controller alone first giving me two controllers now.

I've been taking a break from FFXIV to play my new PS5 games along with new PC games like Palworld and Helldivers. I would eventually come back for seasonal events and to keep claim of my FC house while temporarily solo and just lately while thinking about getting ready for next expansion, my PS5 controller just will not calibrate or work properly. All the button layouts are wrong and the camera keeps drifting to any direction I moved it to. SUPER odd! I went into System Configuration and attempted to Calibrate Gamepad but most of the buttons WILL not respond! However they will respond to anything else as if the game doesn't want to let me calibrate.

I have tried checking if steam is on which the controller itself usually tells me by the LED changing from deep blue to light blue(I did that through steam if wondering), I've tried calibrating the controller through PC settings, I've tried reconnecting and disconnecting the controller, switching controllers, and restarting the PC. I'm not sure if there's anywhere else I could check but none of that seem to work.

The only way I could get it to work is using a third party app called DS4Windows that tricks any game to thinking a PlayStation controller is a Xbox controller. Then I go into System Configurations, Controller, and change Device from Wireless Controller to Controller (XBOX 360 for Windows) and you would think this would be an end to my problem but unfortunately it is not. The game constantly switches it back to Wireless Controller making my controller unresponsive until I switch Devices back to 360. Then this will just keep happening right under my nose. I've tried playing a trial as a WHM while keeping the System Configuration window up and I watch it switch back right after my character freezes, scavenge my screen for my cursor and finally switch it back only to stand fully in an AOE. Thankfully I didn't die both times but can you imagine in a harder trial? I'm sure tons of other players would appreciate me playing with them like that.

So it seems I'm SOL with my PS5 controllers. I've tried playing M&K before but I'm just not a fan of it. I'm too old school with consoles I guess. I like it in certain games like FPS or war games but anything else I'm just not comfortable or capable of understanding it. I don't have any other controllers and as I'm sure K&M is the best way and could eventually adjust over time, I'd much rather find a way to get my beloved PS5 controllers working again.

So I would much love to know if anyone else has experienced this before or has any other idea what I could do to try fixing this? Or am I SOL till Square notices and fixes this issue?

PS5 Dualsense worked fine for me while plugged in. And in the FFXIV settings make sure it's actually set to recognize a PS5 controller since it tends to default to XBox. Otherwise, I would have said to make sure Steam is closed, but you already noted that.

my pS5 controller works fine. I did have an issue where it wasnt recognised by windows and i had to uninstall a failed install to get it to retry. But other than that it works fine
