Prioritize Inclusivity: FFXVI Platform Release & FFXIV Event Timing

    Dear Square Enix,

As a fervent supporter of your games, I find myself deeply disheartened by recent developments surrounding Final Fantasy XVI. The decision to make it a PS5 exclusive not only excludes a significant portion of the fanbase who prefer gaming on PC but also highlights a troubling trend of prioritizing console exclusivity over inclusivity.

What exacerbates this disappointment is the timing of the recent announcement regarding a limited-time crossover event in Final Fantasy XIV, a game I faithfully play on PC. It's baffling to witness Square Enix prioritize events for a game that many PC players can't even access, especially when there's been no indication of a release date for FFXVI on PC.

This situation is made even more frustrating by the fact that the FFXIV event will likely conclude long before any news of a PC release for FFXVI is even announced. For PC players like myself who are eagerly awaiting FFXVI or simply don't own a PS5, it's incredibly awkward and disheartening to be enticed with content from a game we can't yet experience.

Square Enix, please understand the predicament you've placed PC players in. We want to support and enjoy your games, but the current approach feels exclusionary and out of touch with the needs of a diverse fanbase.

I urge you to reconsider the timing of exclusive events and prioritize inclusivity by releasing future titles simultaneously on all platforms. Additionally, please consider the impact of any potential exclusivity deals on PC sales. As a PC gamer who prefers to wait for Steam releases, another Epic Games Store exclusive, like what occurred with the FF7 Remake, would only further frustrate and alienate loyal fans.

The only language, a company understands is money. So if you do not want, that a company releases games for a specific plattform only then do not buy the games for this specific plattform. That's it. After this, they will listen.

    Cheers

While I don’t inherently disagree with your point given the length of time between an announcement and a release for PC it’s incredibly likely they will just return the collab for the PC release

FF games have traditionally been consoles first, PC second though (if at all) - at least, as far as the single player games go. FFXIV, and FFXI before it, were exceptions however due to being MMORPGs which are more suited to the PC environment. FFXVI on the other hand is a single player game, hence console release initially.

It will come to PC, but not for a while yet alas (I feel your pain though - the still ridiculously high price of the PS5 and lingering availability issues for a console 'halfway through it's lifespan' have meant I haven't yet played it either, or FFVIIRB too for that matter).

Is it said if they have an exclusivity contract or anything?

Because if Sony offers them a big bag of money for the fact of simply leave it on PS5 as an exclusive for a while(Like i think happened with Persona 5 for A LOT of time) they will just do that and get more earnings later on PC

    Lol, "PC Master Race" FOMO

That is the point. The minstrel even has a line hinting at it.

The event is in part a marketing campaign, you will vote with your wallet, indicating that exclusivity is fine because you will still buy FF16.

They will get your sale regardless of the time the game came out on other platforms. The language of a business is money, not "oh no I can't afford a PS5". Sony will continue to infuse investments into Square Enix and the exclusivity deals will continue.

One company is trying to sell consoles, the other games.

The only way to actually get them to listen is to vote with your wallet that exclusivity is NOT something you're willing to buy into. But we all know that won't happen, now will it?

Well i have been voting with my wallet ever since consoles have been out. I never bought anything Playstation or Xbox related. The only FF games i have are those available on PC so if they dont push it unto PC, i simply dont buy.

They've had exclusivity deals with Sony since like 1997 with the original FF7. This is nothing new and has always been a tactic to sell more consoles.

It used to be way worst when everyone did it in the times of console wars between the PS3/xbox360 and the Wii. Every other game was an exclusive.
