FF7 Crosover

I think apart from myself im sure there are other fans out there have been wanting to have a crosover with FF7 and having Sephiroth appear and having him as a boss battle and having the One Winged Angel Theme playing while fighting him, i think it would be a great boss fight, as Sephiroth is a fan Favourite to most FF Fans.

What do you guys think? Think he should appear

Unfortunately, I don't see a specific FFVII crossover event ever happening simply because FFVII is such a major iconic success for SE - SE seems to add crossover events for as a form of cross-promotion for games that actually aren't selling well or are not as successful as they should be (FFXIII, XV, XVI). As much as I'd love to have a FFVII event though, I don't see it ever happening (I'd love to have Aeris Aerith's original FFVII attire in the game for my WHM, but... alas..).

We do have other items and references from FFVII already in the game (Cloud's Advent Children attire is a Veteran/Achievement reward, his hairstyle is a rare contest prize occassionally offered, the Buster Sword shows up as the level 1 and 2 DPS Limit Break, his Advent Children SDS Fenrir motorcycle is on the Mogstation, as are Cloud, Aeris and Tifa minions, to say nothing of Gold Saucer, the DRK victory pose is literally Cloud's victory pose, then there's the WEAPON fights in ShB, the whole materia system, the Lifestream, the Guard Scorpion shows up as the first boss of Ala Mhigo, part of Garlemald is literally the playground in Sector 6, Aulus mal Asina was basically Hojo, Zenos (and Nael before him) is Sephiroth in draconic armour... etc etc.) so a FFVII event would be kind of superflorous anyway.

Idk if you can say only "less successful mainline FF can get the crossover treatment". 11 got an crossover and it was the cashcow for SE until 14 ARR.

FFXI got two crossovers here in ARR incidentally (the one with Iroha that tied into the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel story finale, and a seperate much earlier one early in ARR's life involving Shantotto that tied in with her mini-expansion A Shantotto Ascension). And yes, there was a FFXIV crossover in FFXI to boot, although it was... pretty lame (just had players fighting FFXIV spriggans that had somehow ended up on Vana'diel and rewarded spriggan costume attire).

Either way, FFXI's crossovers in ARR were a tribute to FFXIV's MMORPG predecessor (FFXIV 1.0 had the same original producer as XI - Hiromichi Tanaka, and many of the same development team members worked on both), and so there was a direct connection between the two games (and, despite FFXI paying for itself, it was still... mostly ignored sadly by most FF fans, so only really broke even because of the monthly subscription - on sales numbers alone it probably would have tanked. But I digress.).

FFVII on the other hand, basically prints money for SE so there is no need to do a resource costly special event in the game where they can just put some gear or minions or whatever on the Mogstation and make even more money. Would I want a FFVII crossover event in the game though? Of course I do. But I think at this stage we'll probably never see one (and that's even taking into account Yoshi is on record stating his personal favourite FF game is FFVII, so take from that what you will.).

FFVII would be a great crossover as long as they're pulling from the original and not the dumpster fire that is the remake series.

And Sephiroth. He is the most overrated villain in the series or maybe SE just keeps pushing him on us so much for the past nearly 30 years I am just tired of him. He is just a dude who never matured beyond 9th grade, with a big sword and mommy issues. Even when I first played FF7 back when it was brand new on the ps1 I eyerolled that dude more than anything.

Kefka, Golbez, Lady Lilith even mute just sitting in the background Sin was more compelling of a villain.

Though, I have to admit I thought he was pretty cool back in the day. Then my brother introduced me to Metal Gear Solid, which coincidentally came out the same year as FFVII. You could pull a name out of a hat from its entourage of villains to find one cooler, better written, and better executed than Sephiroth. That game holds up today, and was eons ahead of its time.
