A version of the benchmark for Console

Hi, so as pre orders for dawntrail have opened and we have a date to look forward to I've been thinking about news and things coming up on the way to release. Such as the upcoming live letter and media tour and benchmark on the horizon.

I know the purpose of the benchmark is to test your PC specs to make sure you can run the game. Obviously this isn't an issue for those on console. But the benchmark offers much more than a simple score telling you how optimally you are running the game.

With the graphics update due for 7.0 it would be nice for everyone regardless if you play PC or Console to have a chance to preview what the character creator will bring so we can all see how our characters will look as well as make any tweaks ahead of time. Or for those excited for the new hrothgar it gives folks a chance to create one.

With the release of the Xbox version there's more console players than ever and it's always disappointing to be left out of such an exciting time. Fundamentally I don't see why this would be difficult to implement. Dragons Dogma 2 recently released a free version of their CC recently as well.

This is something I was asking for in the Female Hrothgar thread. You have a thumbs up from me. I think like you say it would be nice to have a play around in the CC and see how things are changing. Dragons dogma has a CC on PS5 so I am hoping this is something they are thinking about doing. Times have changed and a lot of people do play on consoles so they need to cater for console players I feel.

I would also love to see this. The real appeal of the benchmark isn't just testing your PC but trying out the character creator, and console players are completely locked out of the fun.

Call it a tech demo and throw it on PS Store (and whatever Xbox uses) to drum up some interest. Draw people in with the pretty character designs.

The past Benchmarks did also serve as an additional trailer as it did put you in areas from the expansion, and possibly playing around with the character creator for possible new options... Which is very relevant with the graphics update.

Unfortunately, if benchmarks are exclusively done on PC, it's because they have clearly less work to do.

They simply port the graphical options from the PC version of the 7.0 onto the benchmark by overloading scenes with textures/characters/effects to generate processor overloads, as everyone knows, it's to see if the hardware is capable of running the game and nothing else.

On consoles, they could port the benchmark, but it would have no interest other than aesthetics, so they would have to remove the scoring method, make technical concessions because console CPUs are not as powerful as those of PCs, especially since there are currently 5 consoles with configurations to consider for the game, which would require adapting the benchmark to all these consoles, and it's a rather substantial amount of work.

Especially considering that we know the PS4 won't benefit from a good portion of the graphical update, the benchmark needs to be optimized with the hardware of the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series S and X, and the PS5.

That's quite a bit of different hardware, and a lot of adjustments would be necessary on the benchmark, perhaps even removing certain effects, characters, etc.,
from the benchmark because even the most powerful consoles don't match up to the majority of PC CPUs.

In Final Fantasy 14, the CPU load is much heavier than the graphics card because it's a game that primarily relies on CPU processing.

I agree that the actual consoles gen like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S should have a adapted versions so that players can see the in-game rendering of characters with the new textures, and especially to see on screen the in-game rendering which is never the same as via a trailer.

But would they be willing to optimize the benchmark to release it on consoles when they have never done so before? I have doubts, but nothing is impossible.

Xbox séries x get a fantasia at the end of realmreborn and we will have the updated graphic anyway we don’t need benchmark since série x is not push to the limit already as Microsoft say and we will run the game as same on pc when dawntrail will be out and probably to max setting like a lot of game at the moment
