I'm sorry to bump in. But you're wrong in thinking the 90 day option was people's only choice. The 90 day subscription needed to be purchased by June 30th for those who had recently begun playing just before May 31 and were on their free trial. One must only pay for 90 days (total) prior to the start of 2.0 beta in order to qualify. So yeah, the 90-day subscription is not the only way. It was just for those that began playing last minute (aka right by May 31st).

Today's announcement was to notify players that the 90-day subscription option will be removed at the end of this month. Since that option may affect how some qualify for Legacy, we listed a few examples in the announcement.

It seems that those may have been unclear, so we prepared a more in-depth FAQ for all.

I have paid for 90 cumulative days of subscription since the start of billing; does that mean I qualify for the Legacy campaign?
Yes. You can confirm your Legacy status using one of three methods:
    • We will periodically send out notification emails to those that qualify for the Legacy campaign.
    • The Legacy logo will be displayed when logging into the Square Enix Account Management System and visiting the "FINAL FANTASY XIV" service account section found within the "Select Service" menu.
    • The Legacy logo will be displayed in the upper left corner of the Character Select screen when logging into the game.
I've paid for 30 cumulative days of subscription since the start of billing, what do I need to do to qualify for the Legacy campaign?
You will need to pay a further 60 days of subscription before the start of the version 2.0 beta test to be able to fulfill the requirements needed to qualify for the Legacy Campaign.

I played before the start of billing and I am no longer in my 30-day Free Trial period. What do I need to do to qualify for the Legacy campaign?
You will need to register a 90-day subscription option to your account before June 30th, 2012 to be able to fulfill the requirements needed to qualify for the Legacy Campaign.

Hopefully this will clear up any questions that you all might have!

I am aware that it is not their only choice as I just repeatedly purchased 30 days myself so you are right about that; however, the information that was posted basically outright said that the deadline is June 30. They turned it off because from that point on you cannot qualify for legacy any longer. If 30 days still qualified I'm sure they would of mentioned something about it or still allowed for the 90 day purchase, but again I cannot be any more clear and I do not understand why people are arguing: they said, outright, if you are a returning player, that is your deadline.

Edit: Hell, you just posted the direct quote yourself. Thank you.

Yeah, it's confusing but exactly why I emailed SE support to confirm that I would be able to pay for 90 days by the end of September.

I was just a little annoyed that Rjain implied the OP wasn't supporting SE when he stated in his post that he bought a collectors edition for full retail price. If that isn't supporting FFXIV I don't know what is.

And that does not apply to who I was speaking to.

Purchased the collector's edition? Nice. You get a hat, a journal, and some other stuff. That was your prize back then. But now, this Legacy campaign is for the players who stuck through the game through its P2P state while it was not in satisfactory condition. Purchasing a game, getting a couple of levels, saying it sucks and leaving not to come back until the last minute and missing out on a campaign intended for the players who stuck through the billing period, only to complain about missing said campaign, is not supporting SE.

Continuing to play and then paying to keep your sub active is one way of supporting lol. Buying a CE in 2010 doesn't necessarily say you support a company if you up and vanish thereafter.

Of course, it was only the tone that bothered me. I can relate to the OP and I imagine he's just frustrated that he's missing out on some cool bonuses despite buying the game LAST YEAR. I'm in a similar situation because I came back and used my free trial for my XIV account in June to play again. Only to find out about legacy a few days later and that I would not be billed before the end of June.

I don't fall under any of the FAQ policies so I'm trying to find out my situation :x

Considering I know people who are playing on registered accounts that didn't buy anything at all, I think he's entitled as a customer to express his frustration.

You milked till the last minute the free play and now you complain you don't qualify? That's what's wrong with America. People think they are entitled to things which they aren't. Everyone that follow final fantasy knew about the legacy campaign and everyone got emails explaining how it works. Now after all this time to come and start complaining about frustration... Gimme a break...

How many of you ever read your car manual? Yes, cars have manuals... Why am I asking?

So you don't complain that you got ripped off by the mechanic when you take it there...

hell should just ask them if they've read a coffee manual, yes coffee makers have manuals as well which can have very important information in it.

and to answer the car manual question most people probably don't read their manual just like most people don't read coffee maker manuals.

Very important point. I always read it when I got to decalcify the machine.

I returned not knowing about the Legacy program... Milked? To the last minute? I quit playing after a month because all of my friends couldn't stand the game. Thanks for trying though.

I got to rank 26LNC and ARM to 19 before I gave up playing and if I had any interest in playing the game I would pay for it, like I am now.

I will continue to play XIV regardless if I get legacy or not but, that doesn't change the fact that the program details are confusing.
