Alpha is a stress test at the end of sept, it's very likely they're going to close the account databases in a way to prepare for the move during beta so it's likely they have an internal cutoff date for those trying to get legacy after June.
I'm pretty sure they have a private server like Atomos in XI for that kind of stuff.

I think you're right on that and weren't we getting new servers too or was it just the engine that i'm kinda confused on. Because if it's new servers it might not directly interfere with us at all.
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!
Atomos was a dev server which they do have, Undine was the Test server for XI. They'll have new servers since thats the main thing for 2.0, new client and servers. Also internal cutoff =/= taking servers down, it just means they have a set point of when they're not going to be looking at account eligibility for legacy because they'll be preparing to move towards beta as they said it's going to take awhile to move everyone over which is the reason they're taking it down in the first place, to make sure no new data is entered and to safely move old data.

Because I didn't think game was in a state where it still justified paying for it. I didn't even know that it was at a reduced cost and even so I didn't really have the funds at the time, where I live and being a student is annoying due to the lack of jobs and people needing them being stupidly high so its hard to find stable work at the minute. I only recently came back because the game has always had potential and now I have some money to see if anything else has been improved and the cheaper cost sealed the deal as would the legacy price for me. In the UK the price per month for FFXIV is more than any other MMO not by much but every little counts to me at the minute. If I could pay this lower price for 2.0? well thats a massive bonus to me and actually makes me want to play it more as its more affordable.Sept may be too late though as that's when the alpha test is. Honestly though there wasn't that much of a lack of information, the first post to the latest post was pretty clear, the only thing that isn't clear is the beta start date. You may see some people say "shouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon"..mostly because what prevented you from subbing to the game in January where you for sure would have had legacy status?
And as Taal said I didn't think they were taking it down for Alpha. If they do then fine I understand its too late, however if they bill me for that month and take the servers down after my billing date then I should be eligible, I didn't get my 30 days but I still paid for them like everyone else. Thats what I'm trying to get across.

1.0 don't be shut down during alpha. only during beta, what should start shortly after alpha.
It take it time to transfer all player datas to the new server and it would take longer if we update our player datas every time because of playing.

And there is still this:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post727126I played before the start of billing and I am no longer in my 30-day Free Trial period. What do I need to do to qualify for the Legacy campaign?
You will need to register a 90-day subscription option to your account before June 30th, 2012 to be able to fulfill the requirements needed to qualify for the Legacy Campaign.

Yeah I've seen this, but I was told otherwise by support. It seems like the 30th of June was the "Its better if you do it by now because we don't know when were taking the servers down for 2.0 but it wont be till at least after 3 months from now are up"
The 30th June doesn't mean you can't be eligible it just means theres a chance it might be too late. I subbed a week and a bit after then and still might be fine. If the 30th was the cut off date then they would have stated it as a finite point on the Legacy page and took the notice down by now.
He didn't create a new account, and also:
To be eligible for the Legacy campaign, you must pay for 90 days cumulative between January 6th and the start of version 2.0 beta testing. (As stated in the Legacy Campaign announcement)
