SE, the Hatchingtide/LLD combination was pretty inexcusable...

Didn't see a thread on this, and a quick search proved pretty useless with the limited sort options, so forgive me if this did indeed come up already--I'm surprised a comb through a few pages of General turned nothing up as is, tbh.

Anyway I'm a couple weeks late, doing this right at the end, but of course Hatchingtide's never been a real priority and real talk--being a self-professed weeb and idol lover, LLD has never held the same appeal since dropping the Songbirds. But I digress.

There was a lot of anger and annoyance over the combination of these two events when it got revealed at least elsewhere online, if not here on the OF, and now that I finally went and did the event I felt compelled to really make my displeasure known to somewhere I can at least do some copium that people from SE might actually take notice.

Again, Hatchingtide's never been great, but somehow this story was even dumber than most of Jihli's egg-maddened antics, and the total lack of real tie-in to LLD--Songbird involvement or otherwise--was pretty much nonexistent. As long as this content drought has been, patching these two events into one AND somehow making it even worse than it usually is, with a single totally lackluster recolored reward is pretty inexcusable.

I'm basically just saying this can't be the norm going forward, drought or no drought. FFXIV's events are low key enough that making even less of them is a huge downer. Especially if they're this bad when they do show up...

Also, on a less serious but no less important note--BRING BACK THE SONGBIRDS. I'm still waiting on full wotagei emotes besides just the basic penlight waving, SE...

We get Dawntrail right around the corner, so I don't mind that they have been cutting a corner for once.

I wouldn't have been so bothered if it was the event for one or the other.. but combined, yeah, was a remarkably poor event.

The only rationalization I could manage is that they wanted it to be a very simple, and missable, quest so that new Xbox players wouldn't feel like they're really missing out if they didn't jump on the game right away. Is a pretty poor excuse, and lacks a great deal of logic.. but I've got no other ideas for why they'd greenlight this one.

It's because different regions value different things. Easter is popular in the west, while Little Ladies Day is something relevant elsewhere, maybe in Japan.

For once? LOL okay... They've been taking a very soft approach to some things for quite some time. Events are below the low effort mark and have been the past couple of years.

I'm still in the camp of not monetizing people based on the fomo of missing the event. Don't get me wrong being able to buy the thing I missed is better than never getting it at all, but it's clear that seasonal events are just a vessel to sell things on the mogstation down the road. And a mount will always sell better than furniture.
