    Can't play FFXIV on Mac

I've been trying to play FFXIV on my Mac, but whenever when I try to launch it, a screen pops up saying "The program ffxivlauncher64.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close..." and continues on saying "deficiency in wine..."

I saw forums with people having the same problem but all of them seem to enact this problem because their MacOS doesn't support FFXIV, but the problem is I think mine does. Am I just reading the system requirements wrong?

    This is my Mac's information:
    MacBook Air (2023)
    MacOS: Sonoma 14.3.1
    Memory: 8 GB
    Display: Liquid Retina (2880 x 1864)
    Storage: Macintosh HD

Is that like an unofficial website for plug-ins and stuff...?

For obvious reasons I won't go into that on a OF. Look it up yourself.

Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

There are several situations that can cause the error you are describing. Please try the following troubleshooting methods to resolve the issue:
    - Update/reinstall your graphics card drivers (If applicable)
    - Update your MacOS software/firmware. Please note, at this time FINAL FANTASY XIV supports the macOS up to Sonoma version 14.1. If the Operating System is updated to a version newer than the support version, issues may occur. If this is the case, please try reverting the Operating System back to Sonoma version 14.1.
    - Disable all programs/overlays running in the background (Found in Force Quit)
    - Cap the frame-rate limit to 30 or 60 FPS within the game
    - Lower the in-game graphics settings
    - Make sure your anti-virus software has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV

Launching the Mac in Safe Mode: restart the Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key. The Apple logo should appear on your display. Release the Shift key when you see the login window. Then, please restart the computer once more.

Should the issue persist after attempting all the listed troubleshooting, we advise that you uninstall/reinstall the game.

We hope this information is helpful! Thank you once again for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

I restarted and also updated to the newest version and the game finally opened! I don't know which one fixed it but thank you so much!

    Sorry to butt in on the conversation, but you're literally a lifesaver; I've been waiting to buy a Mac license copy but haven't been able to afford it lately, and didn't know this even existed. Seriously, though, thank you so much for this, I've been wanting to play on my MBA ;n;
