After you are inducted into the Scions, if you are outside where you need to be for your MSQ, you will receive periodic linkpearl calls every ~15 minutes prompting you to complete your current story quest. The character that contacts you will be different depending on what part of the story you're on (e.g. Minfilia, Alphinaud, Tataru).

2. Similar to the above, but with a personal assistant mammet that reminds you to do daily/weekly content and challenges. All of it.
Once you have visited the Waking Sands, you will be forcibly teleported back to it at random intervals, including from within instanced duties, unless the duty is required for your current MSQ quest.
